Okay, I'll admit it, I'm REALLY scared to go on the plane to WDW!

The reason why is because I'm really afraid that the people around me will get sick, or my family will.. and my ears pop way too much!

I can't stand it, can you guys help me get rid of this fear?

i thought it would be different.
when i get in a plane, i'm more worried about hijackers & freak accidents (like that one that happened on Aloha (was it Aloha?) airlines)

but honestly, I have the same fear. of someone throwing up.
but really, a plane is usually very smooth, and no reason to throw up, everyone should be fine. and if they aren't, turn your music up really loud (if you have music) , and hope they used the sickness bag.

as for ear popping chew lots of gum, move your jaw, just plain old chew or suck on something. i find my headphones protect my ears well when i'm on a plane. i don't feel the popping until i take them off.

I fly proably 10 times a year and only on one flught (really turbulent) did some one throw up, and she was sick to begin with (flu)

Ears poping.. chew gum or suck on a lifesaver...
also if the do pop yawn and then swallow... you can also ask the flight attendants for tips to get rid of the popped ears... they are usually really nice about that.

As for hijackers,,, I wouldn't even think about it... security is WAY to strict, and going somewhere from in the US you are almost positively safe.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

DW used EARPLANES on this trip and they worked way better then without them.

It has brought tears to her eyes on other trips and she has tried everything gum, water, sudifed beforeand nothing has worked on the landings.

We got them at thr Rite-aid.

I'm glad you have the same problem as me, and we do have those ear things..

I have to go on two planes to get down there, and one to get back up.. I have NO idea on how to get rid of my fear of planes. Just everything about them freaks me out.. how you're inclosed and can't move for an hour or more, how your squished in these tiny seats next to people you may not know, and you're breathing other people's air!

Last time I was fine on a plane, but my brother caught something from someone on there... that's another thing that freaks me out!! :sad2:

I'm hopless! :guilty: :guilty:

i always have to take two planes there. and two planes back.
it's okay, this time of the year, people aren't quite that sick anyways.
you can move, as long as you're not in a little puddlejumper, there's plenty of room. if your parents got tickets with seats together, and maybe yours isn't together, just switch with your brother or someone so you're not sitting beside a stranger.
i wasn't all that concerned when i was on the plane this year because i had my music & a satellite television in the plane, so there was stuff to occupy my thoughts.

I have a fear of flying, but I do it every year. The take off is what gets me all antsy, but after that, I even forget that we are flying thousands of miles above the ground lol.

This site helped me quite a bit as I wasn't afraid to fly this past July. It is free. When you get to the page, hit "Enroll Now", that takes you to the lessons.

Fear of Flying

Make sure you read everything though. And watch the videos. They actually DO help.

I've been on a lot of planes, and I used to be really scared about takeoff. But when I got older I got over the fear, and overall all of my plane rides have been really smooth. If you have something to occupy your time, like music or a book, you really don't even notice your on a plane. It feels like a car ride. As for puking, I've never had an incident like that. So unless someone has a REALLY sensitive stomach, you shouldn't have a problem.

I know :sad2:
I hate the feeling to think once your up in the air on the plane you can't get
off the plane! :sad2:
Just find something to do on the plane like watch the tv or something :thumbsup2

Unless Space Mountain makes you extremly sick, you should be fine :thumbsup2

As for overcoming the fear, just fly more often :) Ive flown 25,000+ miles per year ever since I was a little kid (of course im only 16 :thumbsup2 ) and have never been on a flight were someone got sick or where the plane had a problem. Pilots are trained day in and day out. Before you can even get an interview with an airline, youve had to fly at least 25,000 hours so that makes me feel very safe. Comercial Jets are pretty tame anyways.... :thumbsup2

Heres a link for a video of your average landing (just incase you were wondering)

lol, i think its the same! lol. but other than that, i love flying in a plane.......except for the fact of 9/11/01........taking off and landing are the best parts! ooooo and if you can, try to get window seat! cuz when ur in the air but not really high yet, u look down and all the cars look like ants! but take some gum and chew it from the time you get on til the time you get off! always woprks for me! and keep urself occupied by reading or doing something else. it makes the time fly by and allows u to enjoy ur plane ride! hope this helps! :goodvibes

my friend is scarred of planes. she's never been on one and shes going on a trip to spain next year and it's gonna be her first flight. I don't think she's gonna be to thrilled about it. in elementary school on field trips she was scarred to go on a bridge over water and now she's flying over the whole ocean.

but gum does help. and chewing on ice helps me.

It's not really the fact that we're flying, it's the fact that I'm jammed next to people! I don't do well in crowds really, and I HATE germs..

The link I posted earlier covers that and a few other things as well.

Well, I do pretty well in Disney, because I'm moving, but I feel really trapped in a plane..

And now that they have banned gels, I can't use my Germ- X!!
