WOW, I had to come upstairs and get a break from the movie. I'm watching 127 Hours with DH and I am a giant tight ball of nerves, I can feel all my muscles staying tightened up like I'm bracing for something? Horror movies don't bother me but THIS is sooooo distressing. I was even getting freaked out when he was drifting further & further into the canyons, the isolation is killing me. Of course, DH is not at all bothered, he's more interested which makes me FEEL both icky and silly at the same time.

Anyone else see it and get freaked out?

BTW, James Franco is something else:cloud9: I guess I'll go back and see what happens... holding my breath.

I wouldn't even watched just knowing what is about :scared1:

I actually think you are brave :goodvibes and you are right, scary movies are not as bad when you compare them to a situation like the one in this movie.

There is one scene that I couldn't even watch. It felt like it was my nerves being sliced. They did a great job with the movie!

You're not alone in not being able to watch it all. While watching the Oscars I heard the moviephone guy that even he had to leave the theater for a few minutes, it was so disturbing.

I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as everyone else made it out to be and I'm a big wimp!! LOL. I was bracing myself for it the entire time and I think it's a shame, because this movie was one of the best I've ever seen. Can't wait to see it again without that anticipaton of knowing what is going to happen.

James Franco is brilliant and the cinematography is outstanding. I was stunned when it wasn't nominated in that category. Beautiful movie.

I'm never gonna see this film. It would keep me awake in distress.

I haven't seen the movie and don't intend to. I saw the segment on one of the news programs about what happened. That was enough for me.

OK, I watched it, at least most of it. I just couldn't sit through him taking his arm off so I ran away  I am usually so good at keeping the fact it is a film front and center but with this I just couldn't do it. I think it's a little bit because I KNOW its a true story + Mr. Franco is just so talented not to mention the fact I seem to have a few hidden phobias. When I finally rejoined DH after the carnage he said its probably a good thing I left because even he was cringing knowing it really happened.

I think a big part of what made it watchable was that the film had the character continually think on the bad judgments which lead him to that situation, and that made it forgivable. It never would have worked if they didn't make Aron likable.

You realize it's a fictional movie right? Just seperate fiction from reality and you'll be fine.
Now if it were real then it would be intense :)

I recently watched a very long on scene detailed hour by hour interview with the man this movie is about. I decided then that THAT was enough to watch and I didn't need to see the movie. True life account was better than a movie.

The movie is based on a true story. Aron Ralston wrote the book Between a Rock and a Hard Place, telling the true story of what happened to him in 2003.

We were trying to decide what movie to watch tonight and I said to DD "I'm not really in the mood for anything too deep" when she suggested 127 hours, boy am I glad after reading these posts that I did. We ended up watching "Life as we Know it" with Kathryn Heigl. It was okay:) though I must say another reason I steered away from 127 Hours was the "R" rating but there were some racey scenes in the one we watched and it was rated PG-13...

Somebody at work was talking about this... that was enough for me not to want to see it!

I can't even comprehend watching this. The previews and ads are hard enough. I'm extremely claustrophobic and afraid of heights, plus he's out in the desert in those crevices where rattlesnakes hide. No sir, not for me!

I saw it in the theater and it was pretty awful. I counted seats and ceiling tiles while DH watched the intense scenes with his hand on his face.

I can't wait to see it. Danny Boyle is one of my favorite directors. I'm also wanting to see "Buried" I saw that mentioned in an earlier post.

Ok....I'm watching it now....the academy awards was enough for me to watch it....and I love James Franco.....but I'm at the scene right now....good grief! But just can't get over what this man in real life actually went through....Ugh. Very powerful movie!!!

I agree! I was :scared1:
