I received a phone call around 9:05 p.m. on Wed. night. The fella gave his name and said he was calling from DVC. Wanted to know if I had and points I wanted to sell or wanted to sell the whole contract. I knew this was not DVC just by looking at the clock. I figured it was one of those resale places. It just ticks me off that they call and disturb us that late...or worse yet-at dinner time!! Just had to vent. Has anybody else received a call like this?

Unbelieveable!

Haven't received a call of this nature. But I sure hope you gave him an earful. I wonder how he knew you were a DVC owner.
Some People!

I constantly get calls. They called us the other night and I told them to call back in 39 years and I'd sell!!!!!

We also get mailings from a place in Conroe TX ..........waste of a stamp on us!!!

Good response, think they'll get the hint.

The deeds are a matter of public record, and are easily obtainable. That's where these places find the information that they need.

It's always good to give a "heads up" about this. The newer members may not be aware that there are deceptive businesses out there who may contact them. Thanks for letting everyone know.

I got a message on my machine this week about selling my DVC points and almost every day there are calls on my caller id from Texas so I assume that that is where the calls are from. I hate those solicitations. I just bought a resale 6 mo ago and havn't even used my points yet!!! What nerve!!

While we were on our very first trip home to BWV last month, we got 9, count 'em 9, messages on our answering machine back home saying "This call is concerning Disney Vacation Club". This was within one week. They never left a name or number, and had caller id blocked so I don't know if it was the same Texas place or not, but I love rbuzzotta's response...

We've been members for just over 5 years, now, and we've never gotten one of those calls.

I wonder what their criteria are for identifying their "victims?" State of residence? Contract size?

I also wonder how they select their "victims", we've owned 3+ years & we've never gotten a phone call, although we did get a mailing once...

The State of New York instituted this plan last year to "curb" the amount of complaints recieved from people residing in NYS.

http://www.consumer.state.ny.us/dncinfo.htm

After telling any organisation that I belonged to that I did not wish to recieve any more phone offers - They removed me from their list and I have yet to hear from them. Also after signing up for this State offer - 99.9% of the "where did they get my number from calls" simply stopped.

Check your state web site for a possible similar legislation.

Sorry Michelle I was just trying to get your points real cheap.

Ed

So your the one they have been after huh Ed T? LOL

Never got one of those calls. I keep getting calls from Vistana where my neighbor belongs. Everytime they go there, about a week or two later I get a call. They know I belong to DVC, but keeping giving my name as a referral  , maybe they get a prize or something. One time when Vistana called I said I own DVC, they hung up on me! Before I had the chance to hang up on them!

 Guess Vistana sales staff have a DVC sorespot?! Isn't that a Sheraton property?

So you are the culprit, Ed!! I thought it might be you. I will be contacting YOU to try to get a FL resident discount! BTW, we have flight vouchers to use by 1/9/03. Gee, maybe I can finangle another trip to OKW? Maybe a long weekend? Got any points you want to get rid of..........cheap or free to a good home?!?!?:D

We have owned a timeshare for several years and never received any phones calls. We would get an occasional post card in the mail but never a call. We bought into DVC about 8 months ago and have averaged about 2 phone calls per month asking if we are interested in selling our renting out our points. Do these people really think we invest all that money just to sell or rent and not use it?

Disney Adventurer,

Not related to the post but...... I Love the picture in your signature It's awesome...
Not a BWV owner but thanks to friends had the chance to stay and LOVE it!
