Not sure what where to post but just wanted to warn people again. I received an email from paypal stating they needed me to update my account. Instead of hitting on the link I decided to go to paypal through another screen seeing if they would ever email me to do this. It stated that they would address me by my first and last name, which this email did not. It also stated they wanted me to send them the link address which I did. Well today I received an email from paypal stating that the address was indeed a fraud. So please if you get an email from any place asking you to update your information DON'T. If you really think it is legitimate go the the website on your own and update the info, never hit on a link in an email. Just thought I would warn people.

It never hurts to repeat this. I always forward these types of emails to spoof@paypal.com. You will also get emails that look like they are from ebay--those get forwarded to spoof@ebay.com.

And watch out: some of these "phising" emails appear to come from banks & brokerage houses as well. Just remember, NO bank, etc. is going to verify this kind of info thru an email. Don't click on the links.

I have been getting paypal emails too.... what is even more strange is that I have been getting similiar emails from other financial institutions, like SunTrust, that I don't even have an account with :(

I've been getting these emails daily for the last week! From ebay, paypal and the really funny thing is I have been getting them from U.S. banks. I'm Canadian.

One thing to do if you forward the e-mail to "spoof@???" is do what your mail system allows to show "full headers". This way the company you are sending to can do some tracing.

For example, in Eudora click on "Blah blah blah". In Agent press <Ctrl-H>. I'm not sure about how other programs show the full headers.

My husband got 2 of those emails and he doesn't even have a paypal account!

I echo the comment on being sure to NEVER click the links of these e-mails. Also be sure to completely close out of your browser before going onto the site (ie. Paypal, E-bay, etc.) that the fraudulent e-mail claims to be from. If you really want to be sure your personal information on your computer is safe, close out your internet connection and log back on, to make sure there is no one hanging on your hard drive.
I received a couple of these from banks (ie. Citibank and SunTrust) and I have found that when I try to print out the e-mail, what is on the paper does not match the screen...in fact it's a bunch of words making up gibberish sentences.
