Frances won, just canceled my stay at BCV

For months I have been doing a morning count down with the kids "60 more wake-ups.." and now that were are a "0"

I had to cancel.

I was hoping the Hurricane with hit tonight, and move on.... but now it is moving so slowly ... It looks like it is going to hit (Orlando) untill early early Sunday.

Anyhow Disney is closing early today, closed tomorrow, and probably will have to be closed Sunday.

And it looks like Frances is going to take it's time moving from the area so Monday looks like very heavy rain/storms

anyhow..... Well lets just pray the biggest consequences of Frances is our family trip being canceled.

I have to say I am really sorry that you had to cancel your trip! I was just telling my son about how people can't travel to Disney World this weekend and he was stunned. It is pretty difficult for a young child to understand circumstances such as that.

So many people are affected by mother nature. Again I am sorry for you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to cancel your vacation. It must be so disappointing for your entire family. I do hope you'll be able to reschedule your trip and enjoy the magic soon.

Gosh, this ugly storm is sure affecting so many people in so many ways. Continued thoughts and pixie dust to everyone affected...from local residents to vacationing tourists. Best wishes to all those in the south-east who will be directly impacted by this storm.

We're sorry you had to cancel your trip. I just showed my 9yo granddaughter your post and she said to tell you that she's sorry and to go next week. I hope you get to reschedule again soon too!

I know how disappointed you and your family must be. I am truly sorry that this is happening to you and all the folks living and vacationing in the area. I hope everyone is able to stay safe and the damage will not be bad. We can only hope and pray!

Bummer! I almost had to cancel last spring break because of a kidney stone. I completely understand how disappointed you are. Thinking I had to cancel hurt way more than my kidney! Hang in there. The good news is that airlines and resorts are being very good about not penalizing travelers and also about rescheduling. You'll be there before you know it!

We were slated to leave home on Saturday morning and arrive in DW on Sunday afternoon.

This morning I called and postponed our arrival by one day. We will play it by ear once it gets closer to landfall.

Hopefully, everyone down there stays safe. My husband and I can always plan another trip, but to have to pick up your lives after a hurricane, that is something I never care to experience.

My thoughts are with everyone in the path of the storm.

Sorry to hear about that. We would be devastated if it were us. But as a DVC member there’s always another trip, just around the corner... In fact, we've always got 2 trip plans on the go at any one time.

Hope your next vacation is doubly special.

How heartbreaking for the kids

My daugther was excited to stay in a Disney Hotel this week b/c "hurricanes can't break the Disney hotel"...we had to explain that the hurricane might break our house (to explain the plywood) and we would be much safer at the hotel. Our next visit was for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party...we had a countdown chain and everything and I had some trouble explaining it wasn't our Mickey Party trip that we were going on.

I hope you can reschedule your trip soon and that you got to keep your points

Very sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip. We all look forward to going to WDW so much, I am sure you are very disappointed. DW and I are scheduled to arrive Tuesday to celebrate our 25th anniversary at Saratoga. Right now all flights are cancelled from upstate NY through Sunday so we still have some hope of making it.

Well here is an update.... Frances hit and caused a lot of damage. Glad we canceled the trip.

Our power went out Saturday (and stayed out until Thursday)

By Tues morning we were a little frustrated with our situation. Power was still out, there was no power crews anywhere close to our complex. The creeks were rising. (A house four houses down had about two feet of water in the house......)

So I told the family, there nothing we can do here, get dress we are going to Disney. I told them to bring a change of clothing just in case we stay overnight.

As we were driving down 75 we called member services and was able to get a room at the boardwalk.

The park was great! Buzz had a 5 min wait. The Haunted House had a 0 (yes zero) wait. I have never seen such a thing.

The boardwalk was great too, I have never stayed there even though it is my home resort. (It is so nice to have the laundry facilities to use)

The next day the park was just a good as yesterday. Called my neighbors to see if power was back on at the house. And it wasn't.

Called member services to stay another night and was able to get the Beach Club, very nice.

(The rooms are much smaller at the Beach Club compared to Boardwalk)

Had a great day at the park that day too, almost got on Millionaire I was number 1 in the top ten when time ran out.

Didn't have a good dinner at the Sci-Fi. I felt a little ripped off. But that is another posting.

Thursday we hit Animal Kingdom, again another great park day. We were having a great time. We talked about staying another night.... so I called my neighbor to check on the power situation..... and yes the power was back on...

REALITY, just slapped us in the face...

We headed home to clean up the yard.
