Cancellation/Change Policy--

I just called to book my rooms for the weekend in the event that I have to evacuate. For room only reservations the policy is as follows:

Cancellation is 5 days out--since we are within that window, you will be unable to cancel without losing 1 nights deposit....

BUT, you have until the day before your ressie to say you are not coming--then that 1 nights deposit can be credited towards any future reservation (you will need to move your reservation though--so even if you don't know when you can come back, just pick a date on the calendar so you do not lose your deposit).

If the day of you must cancel due to travel mishaps or whatever--you have to call the hotel directly and the manager will make the decision on whether you lose your deposit or can change your ressie.

I had to check this information as it is unclear when the hurricane would threaten my home--some reports say afternoon--and our local news has said as early as Saturday morning. I wanted to have myself covered with a place to stay that was close enough home for me to come and assess any potential damage.

So it is correct you have opportunity to not LOSE your deposit--but you will not get REFUNDED either--unless you have trip insurance that covers these instances of trip interruption or flight cancellations etc.

If you have a package--the rules maybe different--if someone knows the official policy--please post here...the above is for room ressies only.

I got a Fla Residents preferred room rate at Sports (only one with Fla Res rates left for value) for $69 per night. Rack rate elsewhere was in the $90 range.

I would also like to know the rules for a package. We are in SC and with this slight turn, we are also thinking about the what if's?
After Hugo it was weeks b4 we got everything cleaned up so I guess it's now the waiting game.

We had the "Post Card" rate of $49, I called today (407-W-Disney) to cancel the trip. Yes we are worried about Frances, but we also had a fallback date in Feb to use if Sept 2nd fell through. We weren't very worried about losing the $60 some odd dollars for the deposit.

I will say to the credit of WDW they refunded the money eventhough we are inside the 5 day window.

All I can say is it doesn't hurt to ask :p

They are probably in the process of bending the rules as I suspected they would with the hurricane becoming more imminent.

I booked yesterday morning within the--she should turn north window....and it is looking not very good for central Florida.

I know DVCers who used points but had no travel insurance had some issues with not getting to keep there points with cancellations from Charley.

I know that if you cannot make it--that evacuees would love the space you leave behind and Disney is probably on top of that.

(I was in Hugo to PrincessLondon--YIKES! is all I have to say - but I did like that hurricane better--I was a teenager and slept through the darn thing--did wake up to see the eye and went back to sleep just before a tree crashed on our house (didn't know it at the time) and then went to sleep until morning. I miss those days!!!! Not a whole lotta sleeping and lots of planning going on now :( )

Okay, I am confused. On the other thread you said that now Disney is sticking to their original cancel policy? Does that mean we can't rebook?

I will... in my case, I live in southeast FL, so I am more concerend with it hitting here . We won't know anything until at least tomorrow (Thursday)

I live outside Orlando and one of my daughters lives in Melbourne. She is in the path of where the hurricane may come ashore. I am sure they are many of us watching where Frances goes.

Stay safe.
