I have never dined at either of the full-service restaurants in France.I am considering one of them for the CP package when I go in December.I understand that they are in the same building with one on the ground floor and the other on the second floor. What are the main differences between them?Does the second floor restaurant have a good view-can IllumiNations be viewed from there?Which is your favorite? Thanks. :)

Even if you were lucky enough to get a seat by the window, your view of Illuminations would still be blocked by the trees.

I like the food/atmosphere better at the Bistro (upstairs).

I've only eaten lunch at Chefs de France (downstairs), but I loved it. Loved the service, the food and the atmosphere- very pleasant all around and will definitely be back. I think the Bistro has more upscale food and is a smaller restaurant.

I was told today most places like Rose and Crown and such do not take requests for seating. Like the outdoor seating may not be able to get when we get there. We wanted to have dinner in Morraco and then have dessert and drinks at rose and crown for illuminations since I have read many do this, but they siad they cannot take requests, so I did not book it. I have ressies for 7 I believe for marrakesh, so I figured I could be out and head there and hope, but it looks slim. She told me I am lible to end up inside seating and the miss illuminations which is not good. :bride:. Chef de France is on the ddp not sure if that mattered or not and is not as UPSCALE as bistro of paris upstairs. that one is not on the DDP and has more upscale french menu, but also a more upscale french price. If money or ddp is not an object and you want a more upscale go for Bistro. I went with cali grill, but seriously reconsidering this ressie. One I feel like I should be on Main Street with my FH rather than a dining place in a hotel watching it. I also feel like I should have went way more romantic than cali, like V&A, but a bit worried on what menu will be offered as I hate to book it then he does not care for what is offered. Don;t you hate going out to a new place spending a weeks worth of pay and the place is not good. Ugh I hate that. I know I went a bit OFF topic and I am sorry, but if you folks have any opinions on this gosh I could use them. How do I find out about V&A's Feb menu, is yachtsman, or bistro a better choice? I have Chefs, and considering Le cellier, but I was worried Le and chefs might be a bit to much a like advice? :bride:

Some other differences: the upstairs restaurant (Bistro de Paris) has a "dress code," while the downstairs does not. Bistro does not have a children's menu, while Chefs does. I would not recommend either for illuminations viewing. Both are blocked by trees.

The new information coming out for the CP states that all dining will have to occur prior to the show so finding a restaurant with Illuminations viewing won't be necessary. Also, Chefs of France is participating in the CP but Bistro de Paris isn't

Looks like Chef's may not come back on the plan for 07. They are still in pending from what I was told today by Disney Travel. There seems to be a few things that need to be researched more before my trip. :bride:

We have eaten at Bistro once, and multiple times at Chefs.
Bistro is a restaurant where the wait staff cut your meat and hover near your elbow. The Bistro menu is much more limited. And while the food was very good, we did not notice it being any noticeable difference from what is served downstairs in Chefs.
For the money difference and the foo foo factor ;) we prefer Chefs. :teeth:

Menus for all WDW restaurants can be found at Deb's site. DIS will not allow me to post the URL since I do not have enough posts under my belt. (guess you have to prove that you have a minimal IQ before they allow that) Perhaps another veteran could post the URL. We have found the menus to be a huge help with evaluating dining options.

And, don't forget, we have a wonderful, up-to-date, dining database with all the menus right here on the DIS! Here's a link: Chefs de France
