FP+: ticket days vs. hotel nights

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but it is hard to search for this exact question via the threads.

We are checking in on Feb. 24th, on-site stay. We are staying for 7 nights (so 8 days in our resort). However, we are only getting the 6 day park tickets. On Dec. 26th at midnight (yes, that will be a LONG day with waking up at dawn for Santa presents!!!), I'll start to book my FP since that is my 60 day date. I also understand that I'll be able to book for my entire stay.

I don't want to go to a park on Feb. 24th; we'll go on our first full day, Feb. 25th, and for the next 5 days, for a total of 6 park days. The last park day for us in March 2nd, and we come home March 3rd.

What I don't understand is how the system will "know" which days I can schedule my FP for. What I mean is, will the system start to "count" my 6 day tickets on arrival day, Feb. 24th, and run for 6 days? Or, is the system "smart" enough to allow me to schedule my FP for a total of 6 park days, and then I cannot book anymore (i.e., it won't allow me to book 8 days worth of FP since I only have a 6 day ticket, even though I am on site for 8 days)? Or is there a place somewhere in MDE that I am supposed to say which days I intend to use my tickets?

I hope that question even makes sense.

In a really broad sense, what if you had a two week on-site stay, but only a 4 day park pass. How would the system "know" which 4 days you intended to go to the parks and therefore would be allowed to make your FP reservations? :confused3

1. I also understand that I'll be able to book for my entire stay.

2. I don't want to go to a park on Feb. 24th;

3. we'll go on our first full day, Feb. 25th, and for the next 5 days, for a total of 6 park days.

4. The last park day for us in March 2nd, and we come home March 3rd.

What I don't understand is

5. how the system will "know" which days I can schedule my FP for.

What I mean is,

6. will the system start to "count" my 6 day tickets on arrival day, Feb. 24th, and run for 6 days?

7. Or, is the system "smart" enough to allow me to schedule my FP for a total of 6 park days, and then I cannot book anymore (i.e.,

8. it won't allow me to book 8 days worth of FP since I only have a 6 day ticket, even though I am on site for 8 days)? Or

9. is there a place somewhere in MDE that I am supposed to say which days I intend to use my tickets?

I hope that question even makes sense.

1. Yup. And MORE.
2. OK, don't book any FP+ for that day.
3. OK. Start booking FP+ for the 25th and beyond.
4. That'll be fine.
5. Because YOU pick the dates for which you want FP+.
6. No. The system won't count any days after your check-in date.
7. YOU pick the dates for which you want FP+.
8. That's true, but it has nothing to do with how many days you are staying on-site.
9. YOU pick the dates (the actual dates) for which you want FP+.

The system will allow you to book for the total number of days on your park ticket, starting on the 60th day from your check in to the resort

It doesn't care if you book on day 1, 2, 5, 6 or if you book on day 2, 3, 4, 5 or day 3, 4, 5, 6, (and so on and so on) as long as you don't exceed the number of park days.

Thank you, this is helpful, sorry for such a silly question! I just wanted to be sure it wouldn't assume that my 6 park days started on arrival day, and just let me book those 6 and then lock me out! As long as I can book the six days that I choose then I should be all set. Thanks!!
