FP Strategy

My fast pass day is nearing and I'd love to get advice on strategy. We have 5 day park hoppers, and we will be staying 6 nights at the Poly. This is not our first trip and we plan to stay in the parks from the morning until about 1:00 pm, take a break at the resort at the hottest part of the day, and then return to the parks after an early dinner and hit a few rides until closing (9 pm as of now).

And since we're not going to a park on our check in day, we effectively are booking our FP at 60+1 to 60+6. Here are the FP I'm hoping for:

Day 1: Check in - no parks
Day 2: MK - Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, 7DMT
Day 3: Epcot - Test Track, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land (any other suggestion for a 3rd)
Day 4: HS - Slinky Dog, Tower of Terror, Indy Stunt Show (my son's request) **
Day 5: AK - Safari, Kali River Rapids, Flight of Passage
Day 6: MK - Pirates, Splash Mtn, Thunder Mtn

Which would you try for first: FOP or Slinky Dog? And should I switch my plans for our MK days or can I get 7DMT earlier in the trip? I was saving Thunder Mtn for the last day, because I wasn't sure if my son would go on it. Oddly he's fine with Space Mtn...

** We booked the Star Wars guided tour on day 4, my son's birthday present, so we don't need a FP for Star Tours, as it's included.

I would go for FOP first, then slinky, then 7DMT. I think you should be fine getting 7DMT for your first park day.

This is almost exactly our trip, check in days, parks and everything. I did FoP first and already it had limited times, then Frozen and then 7DMT and those I got exactly what I wanted.

I would go for FOP first, then slinky, then 7DMT. I think you should be fine getting 7DMT for your first park day.

Do you book all 3 for a day or just the 1 and then go back?

I booked mine today and did FOP, Slinky Dog, and then 7DMT. Mind you I'm only booking for one person on this trip, but everything was there. I did FOP on one of my last days, which was helpful since there were none for earlier in my trip. Slinky only had openings around lunch time, but there were plenty, and I had my pick of 7DMT across my entire trip.

From the FP FAQ Strategies Post:

- One recommended booking strategy is to schedule the hardest-to-get FPs on each day (Avatar Flight Of Passage, Frozen Ever After, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, etc.) before anything else. For example, schedule only FOP on Day 7, only FEA on Day 6, then return to those days later to fill in your schedule with the easier-to-get FPs.

Book the 1 hardest-to-get, then move on to the next day. Book that 1 hardest to get, then move on. Go back and book the other two for each day after you have secured the hard-to-get one.

Indy real doesn't need a Fastpass, what about doing rock'n rollercoaster instead?

Agreed, but the OP explained their reasoning for this choice. I’ve made many surprising FP decisions based on our particular preferences at the time.

Yes, I saw that her son requested to see it but you can still see it without a fastpass and no wait, so that it why I still suggested Rock'n rollercoaster.

We are doing our selections tomorrow and I am going with the strategy of 1) FOP, 2) slinky, 3) FEA, and 4) 7DMT (leaving this to the end because MK is our last day, plus on our last trip we rode it a ton so it is less of a priority, otherwise I would do it before FEA), then all other rides. This is my first time doing selections at the 60 day mark so am super nervous!!! Will report back on how it works out.

You asked for an epcot suggestion other than living with the land. I'd recommend Mission Space - my sons love it though it makes me feel awful.

When I booked my FPs I did my 2 HS days first and it was a mistake - FOP was much harder to book. We are staying at AKL our first 3 days of our stay and I couldn't get FOP for any of those days. I couldn't believe it. But I was able to book Slinky Dog at HS on our 2nd day but not FOP. I was shocked how many times there were for Slinky Dog. I had my pick of morning to night.

I second this. I did ours at 60 days on Sunday. FOP was still the most difficult to get and that was booking it first and doing it in 60 + 3. SDD was easy to get on 60 + 2 even though I booked to after FOP. FOP is still by far the most difficult to get. Book the hardest one, the next hardest etc, then go back and fill in the easier ones after all top ones are secured. The easier ones will be available for days to weeks after your 60day window opens. FOP may be available for minutes after your window opens, depending on length of trip.

I should have done FOP first. It is frustrating for us we could only get FOP on day 4 of our trip and the times available were only late in the day - and we wanted it early. We got it for day 7 at the time we wanted. I am glad that we didn't have a 4 day trip.

Yes for us it was day 4 - but the times weren't good. The earliest was 2:30pm and we wanted to do AK early. It is good that you got it.

I just chise my FPs this morning at 7am ET exactly. No FOP until 3pm or later on 60+3, and no slinky until after 5pm on 60+2. We have a short trip so I can’t speak for any 60+4 or later availability. Decided to get FOP and just do alien saucers for our hollywod studios day because it is my husband’s birthday and I don’t want to miss the special dinner we had planned. Kind of sucks though.

Try for FOP first. I just had my FP day and Slinky was totally available even a couple of days after my FP day.

Actually... my neither my husband nor my son want to go on RnR - they can't handle rides that go upside down. So I was planning to hit the single rider line for that (and Expedition Everest at AK).

My window opens on June 22nd, just a few more days! I’ve scheduled Hollywood Studios for Aug 23rd, so 60+2 into our trip. I’m anxious thinking that there won’t be any FP’s available for the third day into our trip.
We have AK and FOP hopefully scheduled for Aug 25th, so 5 days into our trip. Anyone want to share their experience with Slinky dog fastpasses?
