FP+ strategy question

My Disney stay is 42 days away. Currently there are several Peter Pan's Flight FP+'s available for the afternoon/evening. My current FP+ for it is 2:30.

I'm debating canceling it and scheduling a much earlier FP+ for Winnie the Pooh (current estimated wait time is ~30 minutes on TouringPlans), banking on the notion that, once I use up all my FP+ I can snag a FP+ for it with my 4th, thus saving me some time overall.

Thoughts on this?

Pooh is an incredibly easy FP+ to pick up as a 4th, 5th, etc... PP is a bit harder to get. Not impossible, but may take some work. If you can move up PP, which you probably can on day of, I'd do that, then snag Pooh as a 4th.

I would keep checking for an earlier PP. People are changing their plans all the time.

I wouldn't. Pooh has a lower wait time than PP, and I personally would rather have the confirmation of not having to wait for PP rather than risking it. I've had an easy time getting a fourth for Pooh, but not so easy of a time for PP, but it is possible. Can you move the PP time up at all?

I've moved it up as much as possible. :-/ I've been keeping an eye on it, seeing if earlier ones open up, but so far, no luck.

Sounds like I should adjust my schedule and just plan on doing Pooh later in the day, after PPF and snagging a FP for it as soon as PPF is done (PPF is my last scheduled FP)

I will say, I really enjoy both standby queues. I don't consider waiting in either one for 30 minutes to be a bad thing. My son sure doesn't!

That would actually be a good thing for someone to capture, now that I think about it.

Which standby lines have enough going on to entertain the little ones?

I would not switch. When my DD was little, PP was one of her favorites. She wanted to ride it multiple times. With the old system it was often the only thing we would FP for the day, and the minute we could get another FP, we would get another FP for PP. We would ride it 4 or 5 times a day. Since things have moved to FP+, we usually stack our FPs in the morning as early as we can, and then try for a 4th for PP. In all our trips since FP+, I can only think of one time that we were actually able to get PP as a 4th. We went from riding PP to 4 or 5 times a day, to riding it once-- or if we head straight to it at rope drop and ride it without FP, twice. Luckily, DD is not a preschooler- although she still loves PP at age 12. I think you definitely want to keep that PP fast pass. The times of year we go are low to moderate crowds and the line usually is between 45 minutes to an hour most of the day.

You are kind of new here, I see. Note that one of the great things about the board is whatever question you have, it's been covered between 126 and 644 times already. :-) But people are always willing to talk about it again.

That topic comes up from time to time. I think it's a tough question to answer, because it depends on the age of the child, their interests, etc... Yeah, the Pooh queue (hey, that rhymes) is fun and interactive, especially for younger kids. I remember my kids liking it when they were younger. Space Mountain has a fun queue. I've heard the FoP queue is neat...but we've only done FP+.

For us, unless the standby line is less than 20 minutes, even if the queue is neat, we'd rather just get FP+ and go on the attraction itself.

LOL, completely green/n00b and willing to admit it! :) Everyone here has been SUPER helpful with my 8000+ questions that I'm sure has been asked thousands of time before! This site is so wonderful!!

This is probably not typical, but a few weeks ago we picked up Peter Pan as a 7th FP for a family of 5 less than 10 minutes before the return window opened and it was on the first refresh. Very good timing I guess.

That being said, I would rather have the Peter Pan FP in hand over Pooh. You can try to refresh to an earlier time, but you probably won't have much luck until your park day. There isn't much FP movement in advance. And those available afternoon and evening slots will go fast once the 30 day guests have access.
