FP+ Skeptic - My Recent Experience

The fourth and last park goes FP+ only.

Oh. Thanks.:goodvibes

BTW Mesaboy, evidently you and I both "abused" the old system. I will admit to being naïve about things, but I just don't understand how people "abused" the old system. I'd be willing to bet we would pull an average of 8 FP- per person on all of our previous trips ensuring we got to ride all of the headliners multiple times on a given day. How is this "abuse"? We simply knew how the system worked and used it to the full extent. Are others upset because they didn't know how? :confused3

Yep. I love it when someone comes in with guns blazing and decides to rip all of us "abusers". I used the system to the fullest "legal" extent possible when I wanted to. Everyone else could have too if they so chose. The ridiculous irony is when the same poster encouraged everyone to "make the most of it"--that's pretty much what we did before, no?

I don't get the whole "abuse" thing either. How would you abuse it? If you returned during your window or in the grace period and then pulled another FP when your next window opened up either every 2 hrs or after you used your previous pass that is using the system as Disney intended.

I'm just glad we can return often enough to not have to worry about getting on this or that....so much more mellow than first commando trip! Experiences can vary so greatly!

Just a reminder, folks:

This month's meeting of the "Legacy FP Abusers Group" will be tomorrow evening at 6pm eastern at the far southwest corner of the DIS board.

No FP+ required.

During the following 7 days, we visited the parks on 5 total days. We didn't book FP+ reservations until the morning of each day before we left our room for the parks. We were always able to get the rides of our choice at the times of our choice. This let us sleep in and allowed us to have a very spontaneous trip.

I am still annoyed that we cannot book more than 3 FP+/day, that the rides are tiered, and that we cannot book "hopping" FP+ reservations - but this worked out well enough for my wife and I. It will not effect our decision to book future trips. Over all, we had a very pleasant trip.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear overall it was a good experience and won't negatively affect your decision to return.

Let's clarify what "it" is. "It" in your sentence refers to on-site guests using fastpass + but no offsite guests.

Do you have any idea what the make up is of on site vs off site during the busy times of the year? There are a TON, literally a TON, 2000 pounds, of people who are offsite at Christmas, Easter, and Independence Day. During your experience not one of those offsite guests got FP+. What do you think it will be like when everybody, offsite and onsite, have FP+?
I don't think you'll be able to get same-day Space Mountain for 7PM.

Yeah but 2000 pounds collectively is only like 10-15 people, give or take a few....hardly enough to make any difference in FP+ availability in the future ;)

I really think that if there were no limit of 3 FP+ per day people would love the new system and see it as an improvement on over the old system.
I think this and the hopping restrictions could be lifted a lot easier than the tiering...at least until they get considerably more rides in those parks. Otherwise everyones just going to eat up those E ticket FP+.

Hello. My name is Diane and I'm a Fastpass abuser.:rotfl2::rotfl:

People abused the old system, that has been documented here. Like others have said this is what may have been the impetus for this change. As an example, take a family who is staying on site at a resort. We all know that you pay a "premium" for doing so. What if said family was getting shut out of being able to enjoy the attractions they wanted to because of people "working the system". If you are paying $300-$500 per night you are going to expect to be able to enjoy the attractions in the park that you are paying for with your park admission as well. If enough resort managers have gotten their back sides chewed out by guests who paid top dollar and got shut out by folks abusing the system, of course it is going to change.
Please provide the "documentation" about this rampant FP- abuse you are so outraged about. I hope you're not referring to the few months where people could double-dip with FP+ and FP- ( by using old KTTW and such). That was just a brief period during part of the FP+ testing period - and it wasn't FP- abuse. It was a glitch in the system that occurred as a direct result of FP+. There was no FP- abuse.

You should make sure you have your facts straight before you start hurling accusations. This is the second post this morning that you've been rattling on about abusers, but you have yet to say what people did to abuse the system - except for complaining about how they used the system exactly as Disney allowed.

I never saw any Disney PSRs reminding us that rides had fixed capacity limits and we should only take one turn.

I never saw any posted attendance numbers with remaining fastpass slots. "Today there 33,000 people in the parks, please keep your Soarin riding to a minimum so that everyone has a chance to ride. Remember, there are only 17,000 ride seats a available."

Disney never releases this information, I would imagine most people are blissfully unaware of ridecapacity and just that FP is available grab one. I never saw Disney CMs from at my kids for enjoying Tower of Terror three times in a row. Great memories.

Actually, Disney is now forcing people to understand that ride capacity is limited and they have screwed up by not adding more rides. This is probably the biggest reality that they are wincing out right now.

Good that there is some encouraging reports coming out.
However I think the big test will be how things are 60 days from now....

Exactly we "abusers" of the system ruined it for everyone by doing exactly what FP was designed for and others were put out because they couldn't be bothered walking back across the park at a later time....

The only"abusers" of FP I can think of are the people who used to save them up, and use them outside of the window printed on the ticket (before they started strictly enforcing the return times), even though cast members would allow this (most likely to simply avoid confrontation with guests) to happen, it wasn't using the system how it was designed.

But the people who would go and get another FP as soon as they were able to were using the system how it was designed to be used.
