FP+ reservation change question

I have a trip planned to DW in 45 days, but we have decided to stay off-property instead of doing a MYW package because we are going to do annual passes and could use the savings of not staying on-property.

My question is: I have our FP+s booked since my window originally opened 60 days out. From what I've read several places on here, I think I am safe to go ahead and cancel and still be able to keep my FP+ reservations without having to go back through the process of rebooking at 30 days. Is that correct, or should I wait 15 days to cancel? Would that make sure they were still saved?

Also, I know that AP holders can only make FP+ reservations for 7 days if staying off property. We have 9 days booked so I'm wondering if my last two days will automatically drop off?

Cancel now because it opens up the room for someone else to book and your FPs remain intact.

You can wait two days before you convert to AP. Or, you can upgrade on your first and hope your last two days don’t drop off.

@Robo may be able to address the possibility of losing the last 2 days of FPs.
