Although I've been in the parks and used FP+, this upcoming Christmas trip will be the first with my DH who uses an ECV. How will FP+ work with BTMRR and Spaceship Earth? Do you need a FP to enter the handicap loading area?

TIA.

You won't need a FP+ to enter these queues. For Big Thunder, you will get a return time to come back if you don't have a FP+ time. From what we were told, Spaceship Earth never really hands out return times, so I wouldn't bother with a FP+ there.

For Big Thunder, it should also be noted that if you do not transfer to a Disney Wheelchair, you will have to park the ECV at the exit and walk in and out, but you will also get to ride twice in a row if they are running an odd number of trains, so that you will come back to the same side as your ECV is on. If you transfer to a Disney (or any standard wheelchair), you can take it down with you, but they will move it to the other side and you do not get to ride twice. At least this was our experience the beginning of this month.

Thank you, CMWade77. It's a big help to get feedback!

I went solo two years ago, and on BTMRR I ended up on the other side with the Disney wheelchair. I exited by myself but will never do that again. It was uphill at one point, exhausting trying to propel myself, and so steep that the WC almost turned over backward. Then downhill 'til I reached the main walkway. Then uphill (exhausting) again to retrieve my scooter from the original side. It was just TOO DIFFICULT for me to handle exit from the other side when going solo. In the future, if I end up on the other side on-exit, on a solo trip, I will insist on riding again to the original side. I am not interested in what the CMs think about this. I cannot and will not physically do what they're asking me to do. [[Rant over]]

You don't always go to the other side - depends on the number of trains on the track. It's not what they 'think about it', it's what's safe and practical for the operation of the attraction.

We've had both happen to us in the past. Riding twice and exiting where we entered. And riding once, and being discharged at the opposite exit, which is a very far walk back to ECV/handicap entrance for anyone with mobility problems. We're fortunate in that we can help DH and get his ECV to him. I hope assistance is given to those who have difficulty and no one with them to help.
