I have been using RideMax to figure out the best way to see what we really want to see in our time in DL/CA. We're going to be at DL Sunday night and Monday in August. On the Monday, we plan on leaving DL around 1pm to go back to HoJos to recharge. We'll got o CA around 6pm.

So here is my stradegy ...

Pending FP windows of return, when we're leaving DL at 1pm, I plan of getting Soarin' and Grizzly River FPs in CA. It is my understand that Grizzly is not connected to the network and this is possible. We'll get back to the park around 6pm -and try and get another set of FPs, understanding that there may be none left to obtain. But still we'll try.

Sound right?
What is the liklihood that there will be FPs available around 6pm?
Am I correct about Grizzly River Run FPs?
If I am lucky, we could end up with 2 sets of FPs for our 2 favourite rides!
Thanks for your help!!

I am not the foremost authority here but I think you will still be able to grab FPs in DCA when you return. Especially on a Sunday or Monday. You are also correct that GRR is currently not connected and you can grab FPs for GRR every 2 hours or as soon as the return time has posted. We probably ended up with 4 sets of GRR FPs on our last trip and didn't even use them all (but it was nice knowing we could walk on).

Soarin is a different story but I would think you could still get FPs for upon your return. I know that we were able to get FPs for ToT around 5pm on a Saturday with a return time of 6:10. And there were still FPs available for Screamin at that time as well. So my guess would be you could grab another set for Soarin.

Also remember that DCA closes at 9pm, so if you plan on staying late at the parks due to your midday recharge I would also grab FPs for your favorite DLR ride before exiting the park and send a runner to grab another set upon your return. That way you have 2 more FP rides at your availability inside DLR if you chose to stay past 9pm.

Another tip. Although ridemax does a great job giving you estimated ride waits and helping to create an itinerary it does not do the best of jobs with scheduling times to get FPs. I would strongly urge you to grab FPs for one of the more popular rides like Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, Indy - first thing upon entering the park. Then when the next FP window is open (roughly 45 minutes at that point) send someone to grab FPs for an attraction your close to. Keep repeating that process throughout the day and you will collect more FPs and have the ability to ride more rides with less waiting.

See hydroguys FP tips thread before you go as well:

Good luck & Have Fun! :thumbsup2

not sure about getting more grizzly fp's at that time, you know you don't have to go at the exact time too right,it can be past the return time...

I concur with all that SunDevilDaddy suggests. Especially his advice to send a runner over to DL for a quick FP (for Indy, SM or BTMRR) pickup when you return to the gates at 6ish. I'm sure you'll head back over to DL when DCA closes, & it's good to have extra FPs for the popular rides.

& yes, Griz in DCA & Roger Rabbit in DL are dis-connected (don't affect the collection or usage of the other FP rides).

Read all of HydroGuy's links, but the "Getting the most out of FP during High Season" link is the one that might be most enlightening - given your questions. Read & print:
