had a couple of questions:

lets say i want to get FP for RSR or WOC at DCA, do all the tickets need to be scanned at the DCA gate/ i guess im asking if i took all of my families tickets with me while they stayed at DL, can i still get FP at DCA (even if presumably my ticket will be the only one scanned at the gate)

does the disney store sell "actual tickets" to DL, not ones you have to exchange at the gate? we will get there early 7/26 and want to maximize the time (dont want to wait at the ticket gate). we will be paying mostly with Disney gift cards

so excited, our middle daughter is over 40" and she will get to ride more rides

Yes, the Park admission tickets just have to be scanned, but owners don't have to be present to get a fast pass--one of you can run over to DCA take care of it for all.

I've not bought tickets at the Disney Store before, so can't help you there--sorry:).

As long as everyone in your group's tickets have been scanned at ONE of the parks, yes, you can send one runner to the other park to get FP's. They just have to be activated at one of the parks for the day, i.e. you can't go while the rest of your group is sleeping in at the hotel :)

Are you talking about the World of Disney store in DTD or about any Disney store in general? If you're talking about WofD, I'd imagine it would take just as long to process the transaction there as it would at a ticket booth, and I don't think they are open as early as the ticket booths anyway. If you mean any Disney store, yes, you could go to a local one and get tickets now.

Yes, that will work. All the tickets need to be scanned at the turnstile of one park or the other for them to be activated for the day and for them to work for fastpasses. As long as all the tickets have been scanned for the day, then after that only one person needs to be present with all the tickets to obtain fastpasses.

Haven't bought our tickets at the Disney store before but I do believe the ones you get there can be taken straight to the entrance turnstiles. You shouldn't have the extra step of the ticket booth too.

No, that will not work. All the tickets need to be scanned at the turnstile of one park or the other for them to be activated for the day and for them to work for fastpasses.

Just to be clear for the OP, the scenario that was described about going to DCA while the rest of the family stayed in DL WILL work.

thanks for the responses: :)

so it looks like my plan of getting family in DL, then being the runner and going to DCA to get FP will work :) i plan to get WOC,RSR then maybe soaring FP (since WOC,RSR are disconnected right?)

this will be the first time we have gone that DCA does not open later than DL and RSR FP are very popular to say the least.

i wanted to get the tickets if possible before 8am, to maximize park time. i know my safeway sells the permanent tickets that dont need to be turned in (but using mostly gift cards so wont work there).

Are you arriving the night before by chance? Because you can go to the ticket booths the night before and buy the tickets. If not, the ticket booths will be your best bet anyway b/c like I said, World of Disney at the park won't be open that early even if they do sell them.

i just got off the phone with CS, i guess the ticket booths open an hour earlier than when the park opens (i was not aware of this, i thought they opened at the same time). this takes care of the "problem" anyone else confirm the ticket booths open an hour earlier that opening each day??

thanks again for the info :)

They are open an hour earlier than the official park opening, just not an hour earlier than the magic morning opening time.

you can buy an actual ticket from Safeway.

they are 3 day park hoppers,, and it is a plastic credit card type ticket. only seen them in the 3day packs..

Yes, the tickets you buy at the Disney Store should be actual tickets that you'll get to keep. So, this is a great option for using gift cards and not wasting time on your first morning.

Just to make sure you know...you will have to take everyones ticket to the FP station to get the FP's you can't just take your ticket and get a FP for everyone

Yeah, sorry, read that one wrong at first then got around to the right answer. Somehow at first had it in my head OP meant family staying in hotel not in the other park.
