FP/Magic Band Split Stay question

I have rarely done a split stay. Need your expert advice. Will be splitting between BCV & AKV. Tickets are purchased and linked to MDE, fast window is approaching. I just picked out Magic Band colors.

MDE had me choose band colors for each resort. They are sending me two Magic Bands, one for BCV and one for AKV. I will be using my 6 day park ticket initially while at the BCV stay than the rest of the days at the AKV stay.

Can Disney just use one Magic Band for the entire split stay ? How do the Magic Bands recognize FPs and park tickets for split stays, when you have two separate bands ?

yes you can use one band for the entire stay. the bands aren't linked directly to the tickets. the bands are linked to your MDE account just like the tickets and your room reservations are linked to your MDE account. you should be able to use either band for the entire length of your trip.

Tickets, onsite reservations, and MagicBands are linked to your MDE account. No info "sits" on the MB.

When you tap your MB at a park entrance and FP line, the MB provides the link to your MDE where are your data "sits."

Use any MB that is linked to you in MDE.

I have a collection of about ten magic bands from prior trips sitting in my Disney Memory Box. Could I actually use any of those old magic bands from prior trips on an upcoming trip ?

If those bands are still linked to my MDE, do they ever become unlinked ? Do they expire at some point ?

@stink ~ all the MBs that are linked will work.

They don't "expire" and will always work at the entrance and FP touch points.

As your MBs get older, they may not work for ride photos and videos.

i believe there is an option in MDE to decline the new magic bands if you don't want them. i'd just be careful to not try to use anything that is too old since, as hiro mentioned, they may not work as well.
