We have 2 short stays this summer, both at BWV, July 13-15 and July 22-26. We have 3 day base tickets on our MDE. We will be spending July 14 at EPCOT. I made those FPs on May 14, 60 days out. We will also be spending July 22-25 in Parks. I was planning to make the FPs for those days this morning, which is 60 days before our second arrival on July 22. When I got into my account a little before 7 am the dates were already available. Where did I go wrong?

That happens quite a bit.
The FP booking opens up "early" (by an hour or even a day or more) for many guests (without any explanation or consistency.)

So, my understanding of how it should have worked was correct? It was just a fluke that the days were already open?

Yup.
Happens all the time (without warning.)

It's a happy glitch in the system. I discovered it early last year, or may be even late the year before. I've posted, and talked about it, many times in the FP thread but if you don't read there, you'd have missed it
When you have 2 trips that are within 60 days of each other your 2nd trip will open 1 day early.
We have this a lot because we make a lot of short, close together trips.
It's 100% for me, never not had the 2nd trip open 1 day early.

FP windows are weird when you have multiple stays close together but not contiguous. Clearly the first stay opened access to the second stay earlier than it otherwise would have without the first stay. I don’t even try to understand why.

Bummer! I had not read about this. This trip came up unexpectedly so I’m not in my complete planning groove

I'll be honest, I have used it to my advantage many times, to help me get FoP, and it helped me get Slinky Dog over July 4th too, since I have a trip that starts Saturday, and that is a short, 3 day trip. Having it open 1 day early made a huge difference in me being able to get the FP

Thank to you posting about it I was able to make FP a day early for our January trip :D

Happy to see this! We have a June 4th trip and an Aug 2nd trip. My Aug FP window opens up June 3rd the morning we leave for our June trip. If there is a chance it opens up a day early that would be great!

How many days prior to 60 are people typically seeing their days open up? Glad I saw this thread.

Yup same happened to me. We did WDW for a few days and then went to the beach for a few days and came back to Disney. My FPs for the 2nd part of our trip opened a day early and I only noticed because I was bored and browsing through the app.

Does this happen even if your ticket spans the length of your stay. We are staying onsite 8th to 18th Dec then 28th to 31st but have a 21 day ticket. Will fp for the 28th to 31st open a day early?

We had 5 day tickets so we used the first 3 before the beach and the last 2 when we came back so I guess yes that would the same scenario..not positive tho

1, and only 1, provided your additional trip is within 60 days of an existing trip that you already have booked FP for.

For example, I had FP booked for a trip that begins on 5/26 when our window opened for a trip that begins on 7/3. I was able to book the FP for the trip that begins on 7/3 1 day early.

I found this out by accident recently and it also helped me get SDD on my July trip! I went into the system to book FP for a June 20-23 trip I booked and already had a July trip booked that at the time was 61 days out. I was so happy to get them all booked without having to get up early the next morning!

Thank you for explaining. It does not apply to me. :)
