We are planning to do a half day at Hollywood studios so we won't be making fast passes there. What would be my best plan to ride toy story mania without a fp? We plan to go there late afternoon. Have the wait times gotten shorter since they opened the third track?

Yes, wait times are better, but during the peak of the afternoon, they can still get quite long...90 minutes or longer.

If you're going to be there in the evening, go right before park closing. If park closes at 9pm, go at 8:50pm. It is literally a walk on. We've done it many times, even during very busy times of the year...we did it a few weeks ago during Thanksgiving week. Walked right on the ride at 8:50pm...it was so empty the CMs were waiting for guests to come fill the carts.

If there is fantastic or fireworks or both go then. We were there two years ago in August right after the third track opened. We went around 8:30 and fantasmic had started and the fireworks were about to start and it said a 5 minute wait. We entered the ride and no one was in front of us, or behind us, I wish I had thought to take a oicture, but I was in shock. We were ushered to the third track and there was no one there and we hopped on.

If you are going there late afternoon, why not try to get fast passes? If you have your FPs for another park earlier in the day, you can look for a FP in HS once you have finished your FPs at that park.

This line gets very short near the end of the day. Show up about an hour before closing time and you should be able to ride 3-4 times before the park closes. Just keep in mind that posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage riders.

I will for sure try to get a fast pass after using my third one from the previous park. I just know that is one of the harder rides to get a same day fast pass.

Definitely give it a shot. Was able to get same day there with the constant refreshing on the MDE app. In fact, that was my strategy for all the hard to get FPs and for the most part its doable. Weirdly enough, the one I had the hardest time getting same day while on my 2 week trip was FEA. o_O FOP was easy comparatively!

The main problem with TSMM is that it is one of FOUR (yes 4) ride attractions at DHS. It is going to be busy no matter what, and will just be busier in the later day until maybe right before park closes (during all the shows).

Take into account it is the ONLY ride in the park that doesn't have a height limit and thus the most family-friendly attraction (and fun) attraction in ALL the parks, it will just always be busy.

I went on it in the middle of a morning EMH back in March (before GMR closed) and I still had to wait 30+ minutes!

We rode TSMM three times in the last hour of park operation, and still got to see a chunk of the Star Wars fireworks. Before closing is by far the best time to do the ride without an FP, and you don't have to fight the rope drop crowds.
