FP for Spouse/Me and a two year old

This will be our first trip to Disney as a family and first for me and wife since the FP system change. My question is, do the wife and I both need a FP to get into character meet and greets such as Mickey, Frozen, and stage shows like Disney Jr? It will be just us three on the trip.

Or can one of us just have it for those type of events and the CMs let us both through? Or will one of us have to stay behind if we decide to go that route?

Both of you will need one if both of you want to get in line.

You and your wife will each need a FP, your child will not because she doesn't have a ticket.
