FP+ for Animal Kingdom June Evening

We are going 6/4-6/10 and at my 60 day window I set up evening FP+ for one of our days at AK just in case something changed and the night time offerings became available. They were all for the last 3 hours with an 8pm close. I have since changed my mind and did not chose to use FP+ for evening AK. Tonight I went back and checked several evenings and nothing is available past 5:45-6:00 for AK. The park hours are still until 8pm.....so could it be that there is something going on behind the scenes and they temporarily took away FP selections for the last few hours or seriously every single FP ressie is taken past 6pm on a whole week of dates?

Ah-ha I knew I wasn't crazy! Seriously no Primeval Whirl past 5:30 with an 8pm close? LOL I wonder what they are up to? Makes me wish I had kept my evening FP+ :/

It's also likely that if you had kept it, they would have cancelled it or moved it and sent you an eMail about doing so.

Good point. I wonder what is going on? If it has anything to do with Summer Awakens and ROL lite starting up soon with night time offerings, then that would most likely mean that hours would be extended past the current 8pm close and more FP+ experiences would be added to include the sunset safari and "temp" night time show possibly. By cutting FP options off a couple of hours before the current close time, that almost makes me thing that they are going to cut park hours back from 8pm to 6-7, but why would they do that especially in the summer?

There is one thing that is known.
RoL cannot run until it is DARK (not just "sundown.")
This is the same situation as Fantasmic! at DHS.
So, it's very easy to figure the start-time of the first RoL performance of an evening.
It should be the same as the start-time for the first (or only) performance of Fantasmic! of an evening.

It is quite possible that DAK can "close" a half-hour before a given RoL performance is to begin.
(That's a pretty common situation at DHS with Fantasmic!)
But, it will be unlikely that the RoL performance that begins a half-hour after DAK "closes" will
be the ONLY performance that night (especially for the first year, or so, of RoL.)

Thanks for the heads-up, Thornton0511! I make my FP+ next week for end of June trip and I was wondering if they would scale back the 8PM closing. I guess they're leaving their options open for 6PM or 8PM closing.

No worries! I still think the whole thing is strange as I assumed the park hours extending from 6pm to 8pm was a summer thing and not anything to do with ROL, so I think it would be weird for them to change them back to 6....which at this point they have not done and it still shows 8pm closings. Just weird that they took away FP+ options after 6pm. It would be interesting if someone could report having FP+ already in place from 6-8 and if they still have them or if Disney cancelled them. I can't speak for that because I deleted those myself and set them up for another park instead on that day.

I can see 7:00 pm as an option for Dinosaur on June 19th. Not for Primeval, etc. though.

I went back and checked my dates again 6/4-6/10 and it still shows no availability past 5:55 for anything except meet and greet with Mickey at 6:20pm. I can't look outside my dates without deleting one of my current dates so I don't want to risk that, but that is strange that it is showing stuff for you. I wonder if it's a glitch with my account or dates, or if maybe they really are booked solid 6pm-8pm.

They could have also only had a smaller number of FPs available for those times, in case they do change the hours.

No way to know in advance. If you are interested in FP for new offerings, you will need to check back often. See the Special Events/Refurbs/New Attractions link in my signature.

We have fastpasses for 6:30pm for Safari, could just be they are snagged up, we booked our a couple weeks ago.

I got EE for 7:00 on 6/25 but that was the latest FP I could find.

On 6/24 I was able to grab a 6:30 for FS, but thats my latest one....
