We are staying offsite in June 2018. The last time we were at WDW, it was all paper fast passes, and we did a good job with those. Now we have FP+ with pre-booking.

How hard is it going to be to get FP for the more major attractions at 30 days out? I'm not sure we're even going to try for FOP, but the boys loved both Soarin' and TT last time; we'd like to rid NRJ & EE; TSMM & ToT; not sure about MK rides yet. Thank goodness we have teen boys who don't like character stuff...

Specifically, Post #5:
Availability

The vast majority of the 60 FP attractions at WDW have FPs available as late as day-of.

- Attractions listed here are the most difficult to get. Onsite guests can expect limited availability even at 60 days in advance, while offsite guests are unlikely to get much availability (if at all) at 30 days. Acquiring these attractions less than 7 days in advance may require frequent monitoring of FP availability via the MDX app or website. Same-day FPs are most unlikely, but possible with constant monitoring via MDX.
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)
  • Frozen Ever After (Epcot)
  • Avatar Flight Of Passage (Animal Kingdom)

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom)
  • Peter Pan's Flight (Magic Kingdom)
  • Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
  • Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
  • IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth (Epcot)
  • Soarin' (Epcot)
  • Test Track (Epcot)
  • Toy Story Mania (Hollywood Studios)
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios)
  • Navi River Journey (Animal Kingdom)
  • Rivers of Light (Animal Kingdom)
- All other attractions are relatively easy to get. Onsite guests can expect wide availability at 60 days in advance, while offsite guests can expect good availability at 30 days. Acquiring these attractions less than 7 days is likely, but availability may be limited. Same-day FPs are likely, but may require frequent monitoring via MDX.

- The MDX system can be used to check availability at any park, even if FPs are selected for a different park that day. However, guests are advised to be careful not to confirm any selections offered, or existing FPs will be affected. See the FP FAQ Addendum for more information.

- In general, day-of FP availability for most headliners--particularly outside of Magic Kingdom—is typically low and approaches nonexistent as choices for 4th FPs since several hours must pass until guests are eligible for 4th FPs.

- There is little evidence that different “pools” of FPs are maintained for different booking windows. In other words, the full slate of FPs available for any particular attraction is released at one time, some 70+ days in advance, and none are saved for offsite guests or those who wait until they arrive in the park.

- If maximum choice and times of FPs is desired, then reserving them at the earliest opportunity is highly recommended.

Aside from FoP..sometimes Frozen, 7dmt, and River of Lights, you can get everything. There's still a big abundance for off site guests

We stay exclusively off site. With the lone exception of FoP and NRJ, you will have zero problem getting a FP+ for any other current ride in WDW. There's plenty available. Next summer is when Toy Story is supposed to open, so I'm sure that will be hard to get. But Soarin', TT, TSMM, ToT, 7DMT, FEA, RnR, etc...are all available for off site guests.

Thank you all for the responses! Everyone that I know IRL stays on property, and still complain about getting the ADRs and FPs they want. They had me scared. I think we can manage if we have to miss NRJ, as long as we can ride some of the things we loved from out last trip. We may be able to time our AK trip to hop on the standby line at the very end of the day.

Just do the majors at night when lines are bearable and you won't miss the FP much. RDing FoP, SDMT, etc. is overrated and can be actually hazardous to your health.

Oh, my. Dh and I went out for breakfast this morning and were talking WDW. I started naming rides and he had no clue what they were... I've got a seriously hard task ahead of me (did I mention he abhors Orlando?).

some people don't like all the squished-ness and controlled stampede at RD....

Hence why we don't rope drop...in my opinion it's a needless waste. We can get on any ride without waiting in that crowd. But I wonder how many people have actually been hurt (i.e. needed medical attention) at rope drop?

I'm pretty sure it was half a joke....

I never book my FPs any earlier than 2 weeks out, usually the day of or the day before is the norm for us. FOP is even gettable if you keep trying but that is going to be the hardest one. Keep in mind, one person's must do might not be yours and if you've never been before, you can't miss something you've never had. Personally FOP was a one and done for me (we did do it twice because it wasn't a one and done for my son) and we did it both times without a FP.
