Forgive me if this has already been answered but I did not see it when I did a search.

If you buy an AP, does the Magic Band and FP+ come automatically or only when you stay in a resort property? If so, how do you trigger being part of the testing since you are not purchasing tickets when making your reservation, or what if you live/stay off site? Is this a situation where you need to call GS?

Thanks in advance for any help!

We were there in August using our AP's and from what I understand is that if you are an AP you needed a room to get the magic bands.

So then does anyone know if calling GS will trigger it or is there a way to do it online?

In testing phase, it is based on resort...but going forward it will be attached to your tickets regardless. HOWEVER, Annual Passholders may still be the only ones using RFID tickets, b/c they still haven't perfected the AP/MagicBand connection. (This information was given to me at Guest Services at MK)

Anyone staying at one of the participating resorts has access to MBs and FP+. All resorts will be participating as of 10/23/13. You do not need to be invited.

Right now you need a resort reservation to get a MB and you need tickets linked to your MDE account to make FP+ selections. Eventually all guests will have access to the FP+ system but for right now you need the resort stay to get the MB to get access to the FP+ system.

They are currently doing tests for off-site/local guests. Ultimately they will be able to make FP+ selections in advance, but they will not get the +10 day window (similar to dining reservations) that on-property resort guests will get. Off-site/local guests will use an RFID card for the FP+ system unless they choose to purchase Magic Bands.

Unless they have APs, in which case Disney has stated they will get MagicBands at no extra charge.

Do you know if this will include the Swan and the Dolphin?

There has been no word on the Swan and Dolphin. They have not been included in resort-guest testing so that seems to indicate that they would be part of the off-site guest group. Do they get the 180+10 perk for dining ADRs? If not, then I think the same will hold true for FP+ and they would be considered day guests.

Would you happen to know if you need a Magic Band to make FP+ selections?
We are AP holders and have a 3 resort stay in December for 9 days. All of our tickets and reservations are linked, so just waiting to see if they open FP+/MB for Dec.

At the moment, yes. Only those eligible for MBs can make FP+ selections. (And all onsite resort guests are expected to qualify for MBs by the end of the month.)

This will change at some unknown point in the future where anyone with valid tickets--including those with APs--can make FP+ selections.

Thanks for the info. Definitely a WDW veteran, but these new systems have my family feeling quite out of sorts on what to expect. Now it looks like its just waiting until a decision about December is made.
