FP + and Non-Expiring Tickets

We have a set of non-expiring tickets we're thinking about using one day off of for our upcoming trip this summer. I'm hesitant to link the non-expiring tickets to MDE because I don't want days to be taken off during future trips when we are using multi-day tickets. I know you can have them prioritized in the system, but I'd rather not mess with it. So my question is, if I have multi-day tickets already linked to MDE (which I do from the DVC special earlier this year), can I go ahead and make FP+ selections off of those but then use the non-expiring ticket for admission to the park the day we are going?

I feel like there's a lot missing from your question.

You can only make FP+ for the number of days that you have valid admission. Why do you need to use the no-expiration ticket if you have a multi-day ticket linked? Is it for a different, much later trip? Orbits it for the same trip? How many days are on that ticket? Why can't you simply upgrade that ticket for the extra day?

We have 1 day left on our non-expiring tickets that Disney nolonger offer(do not get me started). We do not want to use this one remaining day yet. I was told the CS desk at checkin can prioritize it so our 5 day tickets are used and not our non-expire ticket..smjj

This is going to be mostly a resort only trip. We're going to go to the Beach Bash at Typhoon lagoon one evening. We thought it might be nice to hit up MK and EPCOT one day with our non-expiring 10 day park-hoppers. We haven't used them yet, and two of the passes are kids passes, so we'll need to use at least one day off of them within the next 2 years anyway (before my oldest isn't considered a Disney kid anymore). We are planning a trip Summer 2017 with extended family that will include more park days. Hence, why we have the DVC multi-day park tickets already linked to MDE.

Thanks for the info! Glad we should be able to set up FP+. Hoping to score the new Frozen ride or the Anna and Elsa Meet and Greet for my Frozen fanatic 4-year old!

You can also set up "phantom" profiles in your MDE account to link the non-expiring tickets to. That is what we have done. I used our real names for our AP's and used our first and middle names for the profiles to link the non-expiring tickets to.

I do not want the hassle of having to prioritize the tickets before every trip and risk disney using the wrong ticket media anyway :(

You can also set up extra FP+ reservations using the non-expiring tickets if they are linked to phantom profiles.

But yes, what you are proposing will also work. FP+ reservations can be linked to tickets that are not being used for park admission.

Phantom profiles work great for holding unused tickets, but they don't work very well when when you actually start using those tickets. Especially since we're in the DVC section, I'm going to assume you'll be staying onsite and want the 60-day FP+ window, which you won't be able to get if your ticket is linked to a phantom profile.

Why would you not get the 60 day booking window with a phantom profile? If the phantom is close enough to your real name, just put the phantom name on the resort reservation, or am I missing something else?

Because the 60 days FP booking window is based on having a room onsite, not a ticket. If you have a ticket but no onsite room then it's 30 days. Now you could add the phantom person to your room reservation and then cancel it 30 days or less out and the FP's will stay as long as there is a ticket linked.

I am confused! How do you get the FP+ on your MB if you use a phantom? Please excuse me if it is obvious.
