I did a post about a month back about arranging our dates for our end of August trip. We are staying at Pop and our flight arrives at 12:30pm.

Current Plan
  1. Arrival Day (Thurs Aug 27)- MK ...estimating that we through gates around 4:30pm
  2. Day 2 (Fri Aug 28) - HS
  3. Day 3 (Sat Aug 29) - EP ...with Boma breakfast pre-park
  4. Day 4 (Sun Aug 30) - MK
I selected HS for Friday thinking that the crowd for getting a boarding group will be a little less on a Friday vs a Saturday (assuming boarding groups are still being used end of August). Touring Plans also marks Friday one crowd point lower on the Friday (i.e. 3 vs 4).

From what I hear, the Food and Wine Festival is very likely starting around the time of our trip.

The recent FP changes at HS have changed things and hoping for the following Tier 1 Fast Passes:
  • HS - Millennium Falcon (my son is big SW fan)
  • Epcot - Test Track (also a priority for DS )
My issue is...looking at the FP Availability for Millennium Falcon, there is nothing at 60 or 60+1.

So should we swap HS and Epcot days? If we do, are we less likely to get a Boarding Group on a Saturday vs Friday? We are apparently going at lower crowd time, but also with the heat, we don't want to stand in lines super long if outside on stand by. And...really want to have a chance getting on Rise of the Resistance for DS and DH.

Our FastPass date isn't until end of June, but our ADR date is end of February. DH wants to book Boma ADR so I'd like to make the ADR early in the morning before our Epcot day so need to work out our days soon.

I realize this could all change again if they revisit the FP tiering at Epcot.

Your best option is to book the ADR both days and then drop the one you don’t need.

FP tiers at both Epcot and DHS are practically guaranteed to change before trip. We’ll know more when we get closer so booking both ADRs allows you to maintain flexibility.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any fee when you reserve an ADR? And if so, if you cancel, do you get your money back? That would solve the problem of having to decide which day is better for Epcot vs HS now when there are still possibly changes coming.

You have to give CC info when you book the ADR, but they don’t charge it. When you know your schedule, cancel the reservation you won’t be using (deadline is day before the reservation). If you simply don’t show, they’ll charge your CC a cancellation fee.

Thank you both! I will book ADR for both mornings then and then can see if other changes come with FP plus other special events.

I'm thinking if things are the same in August as now, that we should move HS to "FP + 2" (i.e. Sat) if we want to up our chance of getting a FP. Hoping board groups aren't that much crazier on a Saturday when kids are off school. And....really hope that Ratatouille doesn't open with a BG. Also not sure how Food & Wine will affect Epcot. Fingers crossed that it opens the week after us, but probably unlikely based on the previous years.
