FP+ and child swap

Hey all! I'm wondering if anyone has done child swap with FP+ yet? If so, what was your experience? Did it go OK? Were you able to complete both rides within the time limit?

We've always used child swap to supplement our paper FPs, so I'm wondering if that will continue to work. For example, can I schedule FP+ for one half of the adults on one ride, and have them get a child swap ticket, and then have the other group scheduled to FP another ride and do the same thing? Or could you use this to FP all the adults on one ride, and then get child swap tickets so you can all go again?

We normally travel with friends or family and have one group of adults go on a headliner while the others take the kids on a nearby ride and swap, so I'm hoping we'd be able to do it again. It would really help stretch those 3 FP+s further, especially with the different tiers and age groups we have going.

Anyway, interested to hear what your experience has been!

I'd suggest making FP+ reservations for the first half of your group and then using the Rider Switch to allow up to 3 people to go in the second group. I think making FP+ reservations for the whole group and getting Rider Switch passes twice would work but it's not really how the system is supposed to be used.

So has FP+ changed rider swap then? We haven't had any experience with FP+, just regular FP. How is it supposed to be used with rider swap? I guess that would have been a better question to start with.

We were just there. You only need to use your fast pass time for the first set of riders. You get the ride swap pass when the first riders enter the fast pass entrance. The non-rider gets a fast pass that can be used anytime during the day to return with two other people.

Great! Thanks, that is good to know.

I may still do FP+ for all of us, at least on our favorites, so that we can get in multiple rides. That is one of the biggest issues for us on FP+, it makes it harder to ride your favorites several times a trip! But I'm still hoping we can make it work. It will be tough to get used to having fewer FPs, but we'll have to figure it out! So glad we have the DISers to help us strategize and make the most of it!

One more question that just came to mind: is there now a time window for using your child swap ticket? Or are these good for the rest of the day as they were in the past? Anyone know? I'd assume they'd be good all day, but with all these changes you never know!

I'm also wondering what would happen if say, you get FP+ for your family of 4 and the youngest gets denied entry for height requirement?
(We've got one on the brink of 40", and we all know how, inevitably, they measure fine, RIGHT up until you're walking on, then someone measures them and a piece a paper slides under the stick. :sad2:BAM. SOL. )
So, by the new tiered rules, now I've used up my family's tier 1 FP+ and am outta luck??
I guess, a good recourse then might be to grab a swap pass twice,(are these still paper, btw??) swap MB's with the youngest and at least have other kid get to ride 3-5 times. Still leaves us out in the cold for TT, but just thinking about possibilities… WWYD?

I'm not sure why anyone thinks that rider swap has changed. It's still the same and just like before has nothing to do nor is it tied to your fastpass. You could schedule half your adults on one fastpass + ride and half on another and then use the baby swap on both which like before will allow you to ride both via the fastpass line can (as long as the numbers work- only having up to 3 adults per underheight child). The baby swap passes are still paper and are still able to be used anytime during that day. Baby swap hasn't changed.

Used it for star Tours. We made FP for all of us and we just told the Cm he handed us a CHILD SWAP FP. It was paper and only good for a 3 hour window. We switched in the Sovie shop went right on.

Its no different than before.
