FP+ and adding days to tickets

Complicated question - I know you can only book FP+ in advance for the days you have tickets linked, so in our case we have 5 day PH tickets from UT linked, and 5 days of FP+ reserved. We now want to go a day early, and plan to just go the day early, use the ticket to enter the park, then upgrade to add day 6. So my question is, if I go to the park and use the first day of the ticket, will it somehow cancel my FP+ reservations for one of my days thinking that I now only have 4 days left that I should be able to reserve advance FP+ for? Hopefully this question makes sense :confused3

Nope-it shouldn't. I plan to do the same thing-add a day-but I booked FP for Star wars days over 2 weekends and need to add a day to ticket-plan to get Epcot day FP a couple days before we hit the park:) So I have 5 days prebooked, will add the 6th day after we get there and then book fp for 6th day.

In theory, it would cancel a day's worth of FP+. That's what I would expect it to do. But, while this question has been asked multiple times, nobody has reported any actual experience yet. I think it's a risk, but until someone actually does it, we won't know.

ok, I am going to keep my fingers crossed and will report back next week!

why would it cancel a days fastpass? Just adding a day to park tickets - would have to book FP day of for extra day, so no extra entitlements would be used...

But -- in theory -- before you add the day, you are using a day to enter the park. So until that extra day is added, you are down to 4 days of entitlements in the system. So the concern is that when the system sees this, it will cancel one day of FP+, since you don't have a valid pass for that fifth day.

Of course, this is only true if you do not have FP+ reserved for the day you enter the park first, which is the scenario the OP described. If you are planning to add the day to the end of the days you have FP+ reserved, it should not be a problem at all.

Guess we need reports back on what happens with this wonky system:scratchin I wonder if you add a day before any FP used if it might make a difference? hmmm as theoretically you haven't actually used any FP and therefore haven't exceeded ticket requirements. My guess is it doesn't matter-otherwise SDFP with extra non-cloned bands wouldn't be available-if ticket media were required to be used before any FP can be booked (I am talking about extra same day fast pass with non-cloned bands) then I can see cancellation of Fastpasses on the prebooked ones for exceeding ticket length (prior to adding day)

That sounded clearer in my head than typing it out:rotfl:

Yes, my original question sounded clearer in my head too! I think we will take our chance, luckily our FP+ that we currently have booked for our last day are all ones that I **should** be able to get back if they are cancelled when I enter the park as they usually have availability within a few days - hopefully that will not happen. Just as long as they do not cancel our A&E on which is currently day 3 we can manage to fix anything else!!! I will plan to just enter the park and then go to guest services to add the day quickly so hopefully it will not be an issue... I will report back next Thursday!

There's no need to take the chance, there are other options, and no one knows what will happen to your reserved FP. You don't need to go to guest services to upgrade your ticket, you can also do that either at a WDW resort or at a ticket booth outside the park. You should be able to upgrade your tickets before entering the park on the first day.

Also, you are missing out on having 3 FP+ reserved beforehand for your first day. I would cancel the FP on your last day (as long as it's not 7DMT or A&E or TSMM). Then make new FP+ reservations now for your new first day. Once you upgrade your tickets, you can re-do the last day's FPs.

You must enter a park and "use" the ticket at least once or you lose the discount rate you got at UT.

You can do it at other locations like Lucius said but you need to do it AFTER you have entered a park or the price won't "bridge" to the current price of admission.

Thanks, yes, I knew I had to enter the park first to get full value, so I'll just head to GS after we arrive at MK.

I'd rather have my last day FP+ than cancel them and make FP+ reservations for what will now be Day 1. Day 1 looks like it will be a much less crowded park day, and we will not even arrive at MCO until noon and have to go check in at Poly, so it is not a full day in the park. It will also be my DD's first Disney trip (she turns 3 on the trip) and her first rides will be ones that are less likely to have super long lines. Our FP+ on our last day are at Epcot - including Character Spot and TT, at times that allow us to park hop for Jedi Mickey ADR at HS later, so I'd like to avoid cancelling those if at all possible. However, if it happens, we can just RD the last day and be ok.
