Anyone here ever been to Foxwood Casino?

DD & I are thinking of taking a day trip there in the spring.. She's been there before, but I haven't..

I'm not really a gambler - just thought it might be fun to go and play the slot machines once so I can say I've been..

;)

I've been there plenty of times...its very nice there! They have non smoking casinos also in case you are a non smoker! Its nice to walk around and look at the little shops they have in there too.

They have little shops there? What kinds of things do they sell?

And what kind of food can you get there? Do they have restaurants separate from the casino or what?

If you go to Foxwoods.com you can check out all the menus. We ate at the Italian place and it was delicious!

We only went once, for 1 night and we felt it was a nice little getaway for us. We explored the resort and swam and relaxed in the hot tub during the afternoon. We had a nice dinner, drinks and did some gambling at night. We checked out the clubs and we were even able to catch a free concert of Bill Haley & the Comets(I think those are the guys...the ones who sing Rock Around The Clock). I would like to get back there sometime.

Foxwoods is really nice - it has it's own vibe which is not at all like Las Vegas or Atlantic City. Try to avoid weekends if you can help it.

For really great food you should consider going down the road a bit to Mohegan Sun. They have some really great restaurants, we especially love Jasper White's Summer Shack and the Todd English restaurant.

I second Mohegan Sun. We used to go to Foxwoods all the time, then decided to try Mohegan and have never gone back to Foxwoods. They have great stores (clothes, jewelry, Krispy Kreme! etc) and a lot of wonderful restaurants. I just like the atmosphere at Mohegan better, but no matter where you go they are both so much fun!

Cool! Thanks for the link! Just checked it out and it looks like there's a WIDE variety of everything from fast food to the best!

I'm a nibbler - VERY small appetite - so I'd probably be better off with the express food places..

They have 5-cent slots !!!!! Now THAT'S my speed - ha! :) My Dad was SOOOOOOO against gambling - if he knew I was even considering a trip to a casino he would jump right up out of his grave and smack me up alongside my head - ha!

I thought of the Mohegan too - but my DD says that you don't actually get the money going clang, clang, clang when it comes out of the machine or something?

If I'm going to win anything (which with MY luck is highly unlikely) I want all the bells and whistles! Ha! :teeth:

:sunny:

Ever since they improved* Mohegan Sun, we go there now.
Many shops and great resteraunts.

We live about an hour away, it's a great place to take the kids, walk around and have lunch/dinner.

Tuscany's and Clamshack are our favorites as well!

Mohegan has alot more to offer.

They now have Krispy Kreme and a couple other shops our kids like, son in HS and daughter is a tween.

We also belong to the Indian Museum, that makes a great day trip when it's raining!

We haven't gambled in about 2 years, just love to go there and eat and shop!
Also a short ride to Mystic, Ct. another great place!

You'll have a great time!:wave2:

Another vote for Mohegan! We like that layout much better, alot less confusing than Foxwoods. But both places are alot of fun - you'll have a great time!

I have been to both and like both but have one word of caution about Mohegan Sun. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, the non-smoking area is really not seperate from the smoking area. It is all one large room with the non-smoking roped off. Not very effective  . At Foxwoods, there is a whole downstairs slot room that is non-smoking and much better for those who are sensitive with smoke. Other than that issue, Mohegan does have better shops and restaurants, imo. I prefered the hotel rooms at Foxwoods over Mohegan, though. Both places are nice and you will have fun either way. :wave2: Have a good time!

Just a word of caution about the non smoking slot room at foxwoods. Just because it says non-smoking doesn't mean it is! They do NOT enforce it.
