Those of you who have been around the DIS for awhile probably remember me posting about my DD, Kendall, getting ready to go off to college. That was four years ago. It seems like yesterday.

Next Saturday, Kendall will graduate Magna cum Laude from Florida State University. I will be making, what is probably my last, trip to Tallahassee to attend the graduation ceremony.

Now, a new phase of her life is about to begin. My little girl is an adult and ready to begin a life on her own. I have very mixed emotions about this. I am so proud of her and want to see her experience life as an adult. I've always told her to follow her dreams. One part of me, however, wants my little girl back. So many memories surrounding our trips to WDW and, finally, our move to the area. I just can't imagine not having her near.

I guess I need to start concentrating on me being me again instead of me being mom. Well, maybe in a few years, I'll be showing my grandchildren around WDW.

Hug your children my friends. They grow up so fast and life speeds by in the wink of an eye.

I do remember!!! Wow! That WAS yesterday, wasn't it????

Congratulations, MAGNA cum LAUDE, I'm so proud of her!!!! :woohoo::dance3:

Yes, they grow up SO fast. Mike was 5 when I joined the DIS, now he's seventeen and SHAVING! :scared1: How did that happen without us getting any older???? :confused3

Post pics of the graduation, Peg... again, I can't imagine how proud you must be!! :cheer2:

Thanks, Robin. I am very proud of her.

And you're right. I don't really feel any older (except when I try to get up off the floor. LOL!)

Yes I remember because my daughter was going off to college at the same time! I'm also very proud to report that my daugher will graduate from Univ of AL in 2 weeks with a double major. And she will not be "walking" at graduation because she is currently doing an internship in WDW! She wants to continue on as a seasonal employee, and thought asking off for graduation day may look bad on her employee record :confused3

Yea us!!! Our job is done!

Congrats to both of your daughters.

My daughter is graduating high school and I feel the same way. I can not believe my baby is getting so old.

I wish them both luck as they advance into their careers.

Oh my, has it been that long already:eek:

I do remember when she went off to college.

Congratulations Kendall on a job well done.

Good luck in the next phase of your life.

I feel your pain, joy & the bittersweet emotions you are having.

We have a DD that will be a college senior next year & our other 2 will be college freshman. The years just go by so fast. I remember people telling me how fast it would go & I'd be wishing for the days when they were young. At that time you never think that's possible.......but it truly is.

Good luck to your DD & to you also. It's hard to let go & let them become adults.

Wow, congratulations to your daughter. I'm not as active in posting but have been around long enough to remember when you were posting about your DD going away to college. If I remember correctly, she was into acting/show business also? Does she know what's up next now that she's graduating?

Another Old-timer here - and yes, Peg, I remember your "little girl" going away to college and can't believe it's been 4 years already! My sons have graduated from college and gotten married (no grandbabies yet!) and I am so blessed to have them living near-by.

How come they age, but we don't? (he-he!)

Wow!!! I remember that! I cannot believe that it has been 4 years already. Congratulations to you both. :)

I remember too as my DD was graduating college then and DS was looking at colleges. Now he is finishing his junior year in college. It does go SO fast!!

What are her plans for after graduation?

Yes, I remember. It seems like yesterday. Where does the time go? My "baby" turned 33 last week. Yikes!

Congratulations to Kendall and to you, Peg. You both have done a fine job.

I'm in the same club - my daughter will be graduating in four weeks!! I remember being on a thread with you, Peg, about our girls going off to college four years ago. I can't believe they are finished and ready to go out in the real world!!

Note to melsmice - sorry I missed you at WDW - I got sick and had fever/chills for the first few days. Hope we'll get a chance to say hi next time!!

Oh my I remember her just going too!
Congratulations to your magna cum laude!! Sounds like she is on the right path. You must be so very proud!

So now on a very selfish note it might be a great time to get back in the basket business.hint hint * I have been thinking on how to get around the food issue and was wondering if you could somehow use a church kitchen to wrap them? Would that get you around the health code? Can you tell I really liked your baskets?! even without food I'd be all over them!

Congratulations to you both! Your post made me get tears in my eyes!

Awww.....hope your trip was good anyway. Yes, hopefully, next time. I did get to finish 3 great books while I was there!

Congrats again to your DD, Feralpeg!

Thanks, everyone! Melsmice and DVCLiz, congrats to your DDs as well!

Kendall is not totally sure what she will be doing. She'd like to get a teaching job, but that isn't looking real good. She may do some tutoring to begin with. She wants to get a second degree in social work so that she can move to California and become an on-set instructor. She thinks this is the ideal way to combine her love for acting and teaching.

In the meantime, she plans on auditioning for some local films. She hasn't had a lot of time for acting over the past four years.

I think it will be a few months before she really figures out a direction, but that's okay. It gives me a little more time with her!

Boy, I wish my mom would say something like that! She's push push push!
