Someone who was at the DL Half Expo presentation this morning (I guess for the meet up?) was told that there are FOUR new runDisney race weekends that are "in the works." I have no idea what year that means, or if some race weekends will replace current ones, but thought it was interesting news.

Hopefully a new one at DL! One in April or may would be fantastic. Here's hoping!

I think one would be EuroDisney. They conceptually discussed that one a couple years back.

I read on a FB page that it will be Paris, Tokyo, Hawaii and a Star Wars race. Rumor, so take it for what it's worth :)

I would so do Aualni in Hawaii.Don't think I can get DH to Paris....he's still miffed at the French over air space issues during the first gulf war !

They do a Star Wars themed race I would move heaven and earth to be there. They throw in a kids themed 5K, and I would have one interested little boy who would beg to be there.

A Star Wars themed race would be cool, and a good "boy" themed counterpart to Princess. (Yes, I know plenty of women like Star Wars.)

Star Wars would be AWESOME!! I have a soon to be 7 year old who would love to do a family run!

And Paris would be really cool too.

I am personally hoping for something similar to the Expedition Everest Challenge, but at DLR.

The woman at the coffee shop at Grand Californian said they announced to the staff that they are adding four new marathons. ... That they are "kicking it up at notch". No other info (location, theme, et c). I'm not sure if she really meant fulls or wad using the term loosely.

I would bet she's referring to 5k marathons.

Oooh, I wonder if they'll replace EE with the Star Wars and tie it to the Star Wars weekend?

I hope they do in 2014! My husband agreed to do DL 2014 with me, but wants to do another at WDW to earn his C2C since I'll get it for GSC :cool1:

SO ADDICTED.

If there are going to be 4 new ones I suspect most won't be in Florida.

A Star Wars race would be cool. The cost of Disney races has gotten ridiculous but I'd probably do an inaugural Star Wars race.

With the recent additions to Flower and Garden I'd also love to see a spring race for that event that is similar to the Wine & Dine and offers an "Epcot double" medal or something like that for doing both.

I'm also a little surprised they haven't put in some kind of RunDisney series where you get points for each race depending on where you finish and then at the end of the season you get awards based on your place. With all the people who do multiple races a year it would be a way to sell that one additional race to people.

Lastly, I'd like to see them make the 5k's during race weekends actual races instead of over-priced fun runs. Have awards and official timing and do two starts. One for the people who want to race and another for people who just want to walk or take it more casual.

Isn't the 5k during Dopey following that format?

I agree on treating it like a race series too. I think that would make it more interesting and more of a draw. I would also love it if they mimic'd competitor and offered a "Tourpass" and more multi-race medal awards beyond just coast to coast and single weekend challenges.
