:woohoo: A new tv! We did that last year. Only because our old one had the entire one side only projected in green. Made for some real interesting tv viewing. :rotfl:

We got a small refund from federal but after we pay what we owe to the state, it almost evens out. We'll have a little extra but not going to spend it until we see if work picks up at all for DH (and it's starting to a little bit). I know we should just save it but sometimes, you just tired of saving every little bit.

It was the first week of it and it was spring break for a lot of kids. (Mar 18-26) I think after Easter would be better for the crowds. I didn't think they were all that bad but my friend said it was. I still have some topiaries and the butterfly house to show. I just love taking pictures!

Why is PA tax so hard? I don't know how, but I got $3 back! I get someone to do my taxes...I'm not that good at math.

Just saw this --- Anyways, I just got accepted into Herzing University here in Toledo,OH to become a Surgical Technican. I've read a little bit on it and I'm getting really excited about becoming one!!!

I was just wondering if anyone on here is one or if there are any nurses on here if you could tell me just what it all entails. Actually, anyone who's in the surgery/surgical part of the medical field, your advice would help me too!!

Does this feel wrong to you? Someone so excited about getting into college and not knowing about what they are taking? "Read a little about it."??? Anyone else worried about going into the operating room? I'm hoping they just didn't express themselves clearly but...

Ok, I never went to college so correct me if I'm wrong. But don't you usually apply for what you are interested in? You don't just apply for things you don't know anything about and hope you get accepted just to get accepted.

It honestly sounds like she just pulled this career choice out of a hat. What if she can't stand the sight of blood? And if she doesn't really even know what it is, how is she going to do the job well?

I hope I never need surgery. :sad2:

Maybe it's one of those jobs that are on the 'good jobs to get during a recession' list...but I sure wouldn't want to be the person handing the dr all his instruments and stuff.

Tomorrow morning I have a list of things to do--Post Office, hair cut, Best Buy and lunch somewhere. I should get exercise in sometime too. I had better call it a day. I was lazy this am..woke up after 9! I shocked myself. It wouldn't happen if I didn't stay on here so late. ;) Of course I blamed it on no sunshine.

Night...

Hey all kinda just passin' through. Been really busy with work, and ya know life! But am still around, looks like I have plenty of pages to catch up on, but hopefully I will be on for awhile tomorrow night.

HELP!

DS has been talking about a Buzz Lightyear he wants for his birthday for 2 months now. Silly me, not up on the new products didn't think it would be a problem. Its the "Stars and Stripes" Buzz Lightyear that came out like 3 years ago!!! (A friend at school has it and brought it for show and tell.) The only one I can find is an $80 one on ebay, or some used ones that no longer have the box or anything.

Any of you guys have any ideas? I don't think he'll be heartbroken, but since he doesn't ask for much, I'd like to give it to him if I can. Know anybody/place that sells older Disney items that have been discontinued?

Thanks!

You saw that other thread too. I didn't even open it. Just figured it would turn into a another witching about the economy thread.

Ok, I've been reading around the web tonight and have a question for everyone. Apparently Aerosmith's contract with Disney ends this year. Meaning if they don't renew, Disney will have to basically have to redo Rock N Roller Coaster. If they do not renew, there is "CM" talk of revamping it to Miley Cyrus.

Opinions? If they have to replace Aerosmith, who would you want to take their place?

Ok, first I would do everything I could to keep Aerosmith. They just seem to fit the ride. But if they had to replace them, I would pick either 3 Doors Down or Linken Park.

Ooops, double post. But I'll use this to reply to you lighttech.

I did a quick search for discontinues disney toys and didn't find a thing.

If one of my kids really, really wanted something that was discontinued and I couldn't find it at a reasonable price brand new, I would buy the one from ebay without the box. I would also buy other things but I would do something special with the toy they really wanted even if it was "used". Tape it to a little platform and put it on his cake or something.

I found this one on ebay that looks to be pretty brand new (missing the box of course) but you could always try to get it and just do a real good cleaning on it. Just to be safe. Will he really miss the box or will he want to play with it right away?

Oooo, you slept later than I did. That sounds like a lot to do in one day. I would seriously spread that out over 4 days. :rotfl:

Hi LITC! I'll look for you tomorrow.

Thanks. I posted over on the collector's board too, but no bites yet.
I feel the same way about it, but DH is really adamant about not giving him the used one for his birthday. I can't quite figure it out, DH is usually all about second hand and saving some $. He's usually the one hitting the kids clothes sales, etc. (they're usually on Sat. when I work anyway.) He said he wouldn't mind giving it to him, but just not as a birthday gift. DH doesn't have a lot of "things" that he gets sort of adamant about, so I'd like to respect it if I can... but I want to make DS happy too. I'm gonna try to talk to DS and find out why he liked it. I'm not sure if the Stars and Stripes part is even the real draw. It might be just the action figure itself and the fact that it talks and has pop out wings and such. If that's the case, they still make the regular one.

Also... :rotfl:about the cake. The Buzz thing is huge (12" tall) and its a Pirate cake this year... I have an image of this tiny pirate ship cake, and this giant buzz lightyear on top!

I'd pick AC/DC!

That can be changed.

I hate when I get those. The only thing that every works for me to stop it is drinking chocolate milk. Don't know why it works but it does.

Go to bed early and people pop in. Hi LITC and Lighttech. Sorry I missed you. I'll be back tonight.

I think the government needs Buzz to get on top of those real pirate ships! :lmao: He would send them to 'beyond' the bottom of the sea!

I was just back at the Rockin Roller Coaster...didn't go on. I think they need something that wouldn't just appeal to girls like Miley.

Hey

...hope it's a little better.

Morning Ladies:

Sorry skipped out on you yesterday...worked all day and then went to bed early...hoping to get rid of this cough.

Don't know who I like...but DEFINITELY NOT MILEY!!!

How 'bout Guns n Roses?
or on the other side of things... maybe some Prince. Could be kinda cool goin' thru all that dark, moody, black light stuff w/ a little Purple Rain in the background.

No,no,no it's got to be Aerosmith!
lighttech Does DH know the "new" Buzz costs $80? When our DD was younger we gave her a used Playstation. It was that or nothing. She didn't mind.
As for the person wondering about being a surgical technician, she/he probably just wants more details. I'm sure the college description leaves out a lot.

Afternoon everyone! Where is the time going? I have been very, very busy lately, and I just haven't gotten anything done it seems!

I did mail out taxes yesterday. Post Office was calm. NY state taxes kills me, as does the school tax, especially for someone who doesn't have children in the system! Well, its over now, just have to face some end of the month bills now.....

re: college, I went to a state school, and you did have to unofficially declare your intended major on your application. They only allow so many applicants into a program or major. Of course, you're not really locked into it once you're accepted. Also, in order to be eligible for some courses, you needed to have taken some high school classes, so I think it is weird to be accepted into a program you're not really too familiar with.

I will say that when I started school, there were so many things I didn't think I'd be able to do or handle, but you'd be surprised just what you're capable of. Now I just laugh coz I'm almost indifferent to all sorts of "gross" stuff!

I love the Rockin Coaster, and it has to be Aerosmith for me too. Its not only the great music, but the character of the band. Does anyone remember when they came on Saturday Night Live with Wayne and Garth? I'm not too familiar with Miley Cyrus, but I suppose you could tweak a ride and theme however you want....and I do like Prince a lot, but do the kiddies know him?

Lighttech, when is DS's birthday? I'm heading down to WDW and the outlets at the end of the month, I could look for Buzz for you. If you have a picture, I can try my best...

I'm hesitant to get my hopes up that spring may actually be here. But my nose (one nostril, really) is out of control--so it must be my spring allergies.

Still not packed....have to wash and dry my summer clothes, and that's on the list of "to be done", but I just can't find the time to do it! Still have to get luggage out to air it, but all I seem to have done so far is get my list of things to be packed done....

Have a good day everyone! Hope its spring where you are, and that everyone is healthy and safe!
