Ok, I'm outta here. Universal is calling my name. Food, drinks, fun and sun!!! I'll take lots of pics and bore you all with them. :rotfl2:

Don't forget to pm me with the new thread. And keep me updated on the meet. I'll bring pasta salad with no olives and light on the onions for Wendy. Cupcakes with lime green frosting for everone!!!! :cool1:

Ya'll better stay out of trouble till I get back.

Good morning! It looks pretty good outside today. Not really warm, but there is still warmth potential.

Bye Racer and family! Hope you have a wonderful trip and see the perfect litttle town you want to move to (and maybe have the rest of us as neighbors!)

My sister is supposed to visit SOMETIME today. I'm not good with vagueness. I'd like to know if sometime means this morning, this afternoon, this evening. Just an idea would be nice. But it will be nice to see her, whenever that happens.

Heads up! Crocs.com is having an amazing sale on womens and girls maryjanes. They say the women's is 14.99 and girls 9.99, but once you put it in your cart, it comes half off! I just ordered 8 pairs of crocs for less than $50--even better if you use the promo code springcustomer09 for free shipping. Maybe this will help someone out. My old maryjanes are pretty sad looking and I needed to replace them anyway. This sale is better than the ones I found at the crocs outlet in Orlando last month. And I don't have to worry about bringing them home!

Ack! We're nearing the end of this thread. Sadness.

I love pasta salad. I'm afraid my contribution will be more along the lines of the supermarket variety. I'm not too keen on driving with food for three hours. I wouldn't want to poison anyone! How about I bring drinks? Any requests? Everyone has to drink, right? (and I guess I should bring some of the non-alcoholic variety).

Have a good day everyone!

Morning,
I see we have a menu going here. We're bringing brats and hotdogs. If someone wants to bring burgers (those pre-made type you get at the store) that we can throw on the grill that would be great.
Kitty you are welcome to bring drinks of any kind - Alco and non-alco. :thumbsup2

I love pasta salad, as long as there are no olives and not too much onion. (I know, I am soooo picky!)
Oh no...I love onions. :lovestruc DH & kids don't but I do.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :scared1: NOT A CROC SALE!!!!!!:scared1::scared1:
Maryjanes might be okay but not the full Croc. Are you all going to torture me at Hershey and wear the full Crocs?:lmao:

 Sorry D&D...I forgot about the great Croc debate. Not a fan of the full croc either, I have the little ones that look like real shoes, only plastic. They've been great these last months, they're decent enough to wear around and with the showers, I haven't worried about getting them wet/dirty.

I have these on right now: http://shop.crocs.com/pc-421-4-alice.aspx?outlet=true.

But don't worry, in the parks, I tend to wear sneakers. But with M&N's info about the water parks, I may have to bust the crocs out. Just don't look and don't hold it against me....

I love onions too. I love a good Greek salad with lots of onions and feta cheese. Horrible for my eating companions, but so so good! Yummy!

Update on the "splurge": I just checked my Disney Visa rewards and I can definitely get BF's park ticket for free. So now any leftover points will go towards MNSSHP tix...that is, IF we decide to go to that instead of BMG. (yeah, right)

 Just teasing about the Crocs. Feel free to wear what you want. I am not easily offended.

Hooray for getting the tix free w/ your Disney rewards. Hope you do go to MNSSHP. It really was fantastic!

Well racetrack should be on her way. :woohoo:

Sorry to get you all jealous of my weather, but it's about all I have around here. We have a great "beach"...White Sands Nat'l Monument but not a drop of water. :beach: And all the rest of you seem closer together and so far away.

DL55- We're only jealous of your weather when ours is worse. :lmao:

 DL55...you won't miss out next time when we decide to invade your neck of the woods!

So how do you cool off at the beach with no water?

Seriously, I've heard its beautiful out there. I had a friend who lived in Santa Fe for years and would just gush about the insane colors and beauty. And the great weather, of course!

Santa Fe is in the pretty part of NM. :lmao: But I do like the wide open feeling. I don't think too many people go to the sand dunes during summer. But they do stay open later on full moon weekends. It's just so beautiful with the full moon and snow white sand dunes. :cloud9: During spring/ fall people do sled down the dunes. And of course our balloon festival. :goodvibes

Hey MagiKitty, I hit the Croc sale today too! I started wearing them to DL a few years ago and as ugly as they are at least I do not come home with aching feet. They were the ONLY thing I was able to wear all day. With 14 days in the park last year it was pretty darn important to find something that worked. Anyway, I read about the Croc sale on TGM so word gets around. I was able to get my DD 3 pair of the Mary Janes for a total of $14.97. SWEET! I also picked up a few shirts for DD today at Disneyshopping. They are running some nice sales with additional coupon discounts too. Getting a head start on her vacation wardrobe.

I went and checked out surveyhead. I have only made it up to $7.10 but hey that's better than nothing.

M&N, I get e-mail from myself too. I am not sure what the deal is. I just usually ignore it and toss it in the trash file. I have had some of my info stolen on a couple different occasions but I do not think that is how they got it. I actually have received letters on different occasions where employees had taken stored info from websites they worked for, one was Disney. I just keep my spyware updated as much as I can and hope for the best! I do online banking and I hope they never manage to get into that!

whgrn, I can sympathize with you where DS's grades are concerned. Science and math are not my DS's strong points either. He got his math skills, or lack of, from me BUT thank heavens he got my spelling skills and not DH's. Around here DS and I are DH's spell checkers when he can't get close enough for spell check to work! Go figure though, he's the one good at math. I hope your DS is able to bring his grades up.

DL55, we used to drive through Santa Fe every year and catch sight of the balloon festival. That was back when we camped out in Colorado every year. Thank heavens no more! I traded it in for going to Disney!

Speaking of Disney, I actually made some progress on my WDW plans today! I have been reading and absorbing info like crazy but today was the first day I actually did something to my itinerary. Of course, with 6 months to go it is still likely to change but for now I feel like I have my dining plans picked out.

Good evening!

I just had to stop by and share a story that I saw on my local news station.

"Knockoff-Handbag Raid At Flea Market Nets 3 Arrests"

DERRY, N.H. -- A federal raid of a Derry flea market netted three arrests on charges of trafficking counterfeit goods. Federal investigators and local authorities raided the Grandview Flea Market at about 8 a.m. Saturday, where they said vendors sold knockoffs of high-priced designer handbags.

Police closed the flea market, prompting widespread traffic jams near Route 28 in Derry. Hundreds of people from around New England drove for miles to purchase the bags, officials said.

WMUR News 9's Aaron Kellogg reported that confused shoppers pulled over outside the flea market, asking why police blocked the entry gates. Kellogg said parts of Derry looked like a scene out of a fashion magazine with women everywhere holding knockoff designer bags, wondering what to do next after police told them to stay away.

Some women said they drove from as far away as West Lebanon and the Boston suburbs. One woman said she even drove from Sturbridge, Mass., near the Connecticut border.

Alyson Silverman drove an hour and a half and 56 miles from Weymouth, Mass., only to get turned away. She bought an imitation coach bag for just $10. A similar one online cost nearly $400.

"I'm so upset, my kids are upset," she said. "You had to wait for people to get out of the way so you could get a bag."

"I just think it's really disappointing," said Toni Brown, of Brockton, Mass. "It stops hard-working citizens like us -- as hard as times are with the inflation -- (from) just getting a good deal here or there."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Zuckerman said the three men arrested in the raid would appear in federal court in Concord on Saturday afternoon.

"The value of those products gets diluted by people who are using counterfeit trademarks," Zuckerman said.

Federal agents coordinated the operation after a two-year investigation into the sale of the handbags at prices as low as $10. Many designer handbags sell for hundreds of dollars more than the black-market replicas.

Federal authorities identified the men arrested as Guo Qiao Lin, 32, and Peng de Lin, 35, both of Flushing, N.Y.; and Junwu Chen, 40, of Woodside, N.Y.

Investigators said the men sold hundreds of handbags, wallets and accessories that looked like designer brands Prada, Gucci, Louis Vutton and more. If convicted, each faces up to 10 years in prison and $2 million in fines.

Hey campers! Had a great, and BUSY day today! I had to help DS with his Personal Novel Project, which is now all done and looks awesome. He did all the work, I just typed it, and helped him with arranging the display. He is so proud of it. He made dinner tonite--burgers on the grill. He was so cute in his little chef's jacket, so serious! After dinner, we went over to Home Depot to finally get a fire pit. We got a really nice one. But I am a total failure as a Girl Scout, as we could not get the fire started! I was able to get newspaper burning, and cardboard, but the log just would not catch. We have no kindling, and all our little twigs are damp from the rain we had all week. So we will have to go buy something tomorrow to use. (In any event, don't put me in charge of the campfire in Hershey, or we will be eating raw food!!) Our pastor and his wife stopped by tonite and we had a very nice visit. Now the kids are in bed and I finally have a chance to get on the DIS!

I will be happy to bring burgers! How many should I plan on? And I can bring the buns too. What about cheese? I will just throw it all in my giant cooler and it will keep just fine on the ride out there.

I am sooooooo looking forward to Hershey! It is gonna rock! So, who all is coming? I know D&D and Racetrack are camping, M&N is local, and Kitty and I are at the hotel. Who else? Lighttech, are you gracing us with your presence???

Stops "hard working people" from buying illegal items?! Sorry.. no sympathy. If you need to buy illegal items so you can compete against the Jones maybe you need to re evaluate your priorities.

Thinking of racetrack and M&N, I went to the local race track. Not as sophisticated as NASCAR, dirt track. It was fun. Even had the black flag. Two car sideswiped each other. Sending one into the infield. He then waited until the other car came around and drove back out onto the track, almost hitting the other car!.

whgrn It's always difficult to start a fire when everything is wet. ;)

mariezp I bet that dining plan changes about six times in the next six months.

. And of course our balloon festival. :goodvibes
That's what I would love to see one day! We used to have a small one in WI years back and it was gorgeous!

They do sell kindle logs or firestarter pellets at Target/Walmart. Really helps get that fire going. Still need some newspaper too, but it helps it burn a little longer. You're going to have to post pics once you do get it going. :thumbsup2

Pikester - never really understood why namebrands or knockoffs are so important to people.:confused3

Marie - I'll second the bet that your ADRs change at least once in the next 6 months. Glad your planning is coming along nicely.

DH and DD went outside this evening and caught a glimpse at one of God's masterpieces. I can't believe DH even grabbed the camera!

Marie, that is just beautiful!! Kudos to DH for grabbing the camera!

OK it only took an hour but I'm finally caught up.

I want to go to Hershey!!!!!
cry4.gif

I wanna go too...looks like the plans are going well.

Is he going to be able to take some time off when you have the baby? I always hate how dads get the really short end of the straw when it comes to being home with a new baby. Mom's in this country do too but I know with our last one, DH could only take off 3 days. For a country that talks about family values so much, it is harder and harder to be a family.

It really is something that your government is miles behind on...being forced back to work so early really sucks. We have the year maternity leave, which except for the first few weeks (which must be taken by the Mom)...can be divided between the parents...it's great to see all the Dads taking time off during the baby's first year.

It's been crazy here the last few days...had a golf tournie in London (ONT) on Friday and then too many events to count over the weekend...looking forward to puttering around the house today and catching up. Weather still sucks...we were in the pool by mid May last year...this year only once so far...putting the heater on would be throwing $ away since it's so cold at night...so it's still sitting around 70*F brrrr.

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend and an even better Monday....I see we're at page 248, so depending on who stops by today, we'll start the new thread either tonight or tomorrow, 8pm EST. I like to give everyone a heads up.

Ev, I completely agree that the US is years behind on the maternity/paternity leave. I went to a baby shower last week, and my friend is hoping to get 3 months off. Thing is, she's a lobbyist in Washington and they really need her, so she feels the pressure to come back quickly because Washington never sleeps! Its hard for me to imagine going back so soon after a baby arrives, but also in this economy, people have to do so many things just to make sure that they keep their job.

marie, what a gorgeous picture of God's work and your even more beautiful DD!

I think I'm ready with my ADRs too! Just waiting for park hours to come out to determine which park/which day. We don't get hoppers--although I may push for it this trip coz I have my AP and we would only have to pay for BF's. But then again, we could use that money of MNSSHP.....:cool1:

Younger nephew went to Six Flags over the weekend with his class and didn't get to ride any rollercoasters! Seems the class was divided into groups and he got into the dud/I-don't-want-to-ride-anything. Pressures on for Hershey...I told him if he wants to ride the rollercoasters 15 times in a row, he can. Older nephew is trying to get out the wedding to accompany us. I told him that's totally up to him, but I'm not getting involved!

Wendy, did you ever get that fire pit going? Sounds wonderful and congrats to DS for cooking dinner and a great project!

Just got a call from a friend, DD was at her daughter's birthday on Saturday night and decided to teach all the little girls how to "flip the bird"...a new trick she learned from one of the neighbour boys...oh and also how to pronounce the accompanying word...how am I going to survive her being a teenager when she like this at 7!! :sad2:

Hi there MK.

Oh no Ev! What did you say to that? (although it IS kinda funny). That was quite the birthday party...kids are so racy these days!
