Four Eurostar services cancelled on Fri 23rd Jan

The Channel Tunnel has been closed "until further notice" after a fire on a lorry.

Eurostar says all services have been suspended for the day and trains are returning to their original stations.

Kent Police said the fire happened at the French end of the tunnel and is being dealt with by the French authorities. There were no reported injuries and the lorry is being recovered, a police spokesman said. The spokesman said the fire had led to the closure of both bores of the Channel Tunnel. He added: "Rail passengers are advised to expect significant delays whilst the vehicle is being recovered and fumes are cleared from the tunnels."

Eurotunnel spokesman John O'Keefe said inspectors were sent into the tunnel after two smoke alarms had been triggered. "The investigation into the two alarms is going on at the moment so as soon we know more we'll let [everyone] know," he said.

Eurostar services will be running a near normal service tomorrow.

Eurostar Service Update

Following the announcement from Eurotunnel that it will be opening its south tunnel later this evening (17th Jan), Eurostar can confirm that it will be running a near normal service on Sunday 18 January 2015, for passengers who have an existing reservation for this date.

As Eurotunnel has advised us that its north tunnel will remain closed all day tomorrow, Eurostar services will be subject to delays of between 30 and 60 minutes.

All passengers who are booked to travel tomorrow Sunday 18 January should check-in as normal half an hour before departure.

Eurostar services tomorrow are already very busy and availability is limited. If you were on a cancelled train today and need to travel urgently tomorrow, please call our contact centre on 03432 186 186 after 08.00 (GMT) tomorrow and we will try to re-book you on a service departing after 12.00 (GMT).

We would strongly advise passengers whose journeys were impacted today by the problems in Eurotunnel not to come to our stations unless they have rebooked through our contact centre.

How annoying for all those on their way to disney. They will now miss almost two days that's if they can even get a train tomorrow .

Glad no one was injured. If this happened next weekend it would have made for a very interesting Emergency service training exercise which is planned there next Saturday.

What a day :'( our train was the first that didn't leave... Chaos for hours hopefully I just manage to rebook us for a first train tomorrow and we should be at Disneyland at 2pm

On the train now,left London late and now we are stopped in Ashton for 1 hr and 15 mins as new problem at Eurotunnel �� but was told we will go should arrive at Lille with 2hr delay so will have to get next train as will miss our but as long as we will get there today we will be fine

We made it So happy and tried but so lucky we rebooked for early train as wouldn't made it today... I must say the whole carriage was so relieved when we made all the way through tunnel no one cared we were on 120mins delay just that happy we were on the other site and what was great they get tgv at Lille wait for us and it was on the same platform as well. Now will enjoy our time here and hopefully they will be running ok on Wednesday I know it's just way back so not so worried but I think we had enough adventure on this trip

Due to ongoing Eurotunnel power supply problems all Eurostar services today (22 Jan) are delayed by around 60 minutes.

And Eurostar have annouced that services 9132, 9028, 9125, 9023 for FRIDAY 23RD Jan have been cancelled.
