Someone who bought points at a DVC resort the first time they were offered and got some tapestry or their name engraved on something somewhere to note that fact. But probably didn't get much of a discount or any developer points, or a gift card because they bought so early.

That is ONE version of the "Founding Member" wording, used at AKV when the tapestry was offered.

The latest use of the term "Founding Member" applies to DVC Members who bought a contract while at Disneyland. It will give them a pre-purchase window for the Grand Californian DVC, before sales are opened to the general membership, and then to the general public.


I wish DVC would stop using the same terminology to apply to two different things.

I will never believe that any DVC resort will sell out so fast that it is necessary to be among the first to buy or be shut out.
