Thanks to a PP I went to JoAnn.com and found the No Sew Fleece Throw kits on sale. Each Project Linus chapter has different needs, so you'll need to be sure this fits yours.... Our PL asks for 2 single layer fleece blankets of a specific length & width and directs you to the PL main website for a No Sew Fleece Blanket pattern & technique they approve of. The PL chapter we are making our blankets for, like many others apparently, could especially use blankets for boys & teenage boys.pirate: So, I chose designs at JoAnn.com that sounded boyish, but did not have images available. They arrived today and my sons (12 & 14) both felt they were appropriate & not "girly blankets". So I wanted to pass along the names for anyone else wanting to make blankets for boys. The designs were called "Wilderness Silhouettes" and "Skull on Plaid". As per suggestion of PP, and to fulfill our PL chapter's specifications, we are making 2 single-layer blankets from each of these kits. At the current sales price we are able to make 2 blankets from good quality, attractive fleece for $15. Pasting the page with one of the kits on it:

HTH someone!

Thank you so much for the link, we have 5 blankets to make and this will certainly help with the cost. :)

Our boys also found a great no-pill fleece on sale at Joann's with footballs - the chapter we worked with for GAD needed double-sided, so we used a red/orange for the other side. We also found a lizard pattern (used navy blue on the other side) which was a little younger looking, but still very boyish!

Do you know the dimentions of the fabric before you cut the fringe? I was thinking of getting these kits for our blankets but I was afraid they would be too small.

I think they were 60x72 and the sales lady told me that was 2 yards. That should be plenty big enough. I was just going to come on here and tell eveyone about the kits. For $15 I looked at Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Jo Ann's today. This was the best deal!

I ordered 3 kits and they came in yesterday, they are 60x72, plenty big enough!

Also wanted to add that we ordered the plaid/skull kit and the frog/butterfly kit even though there were no pictures available-they are both very nice. Each kit comes with a print piece and a solid piece-on the skull kit the solid color is red and on the frog/butterfly is a bright pink. They are very nice IMO.

This is going to be a fun weekend project for us

Just an FYI - I just spoke with the New Lenox chapter, and they stated that they hardly ever get blankets in for the older kids or teens. Just something to think about, especially if you're going to do the basic fleece/tie blankets. You might want to consider some of the university logos or major sports mascots - even if you can't do a larger/twin-size.
