Yesterday after work i found a $50 bill behind a car in the parking lot!!I plan on taking my family to olive garden thursday for lunch! It pays to work on sunday LOL

What a nice little surprise! I think the OG has the never-ending pasta bowl special going on now too.

I found a $20 at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market a few years back when we were visiting my BF's family on the west coast. I asked if it belonged to anyone around me and nobody claimed it. I gave it to the lady at the booth we were at and told her to give it to someone who needed it. No way did I want that bad juju/karma or whatever when we were flying back home in a week!

I always turn in $ except one time last summer - I found a $20 at an amusement park with no one around and figured what the heck, I'll keep it and let the kids buy something. So when I went to get it out of my pocket later it was gone. That's what I get for being greedy - I was tested and failed! :P

I keep free floating money. It would be next to impossible to find the real owner so I take it as I was meant to have it.

I turn in purses and wallets.
Me too. Loose money is pennies (or $50 bills) from heaven. My dad found $20 on the floor at a department store and he asked if anyone lost $20. Three people said it was theirs. Not really the most effective way to find out who it belongs to.

Same here (and with most people I know.) There is no way to trace a $50 behind your car. I found $80 in the grass in a city park once. If it's in a purse or wallet (I have this habit of finding credit cards, too!) then I turn it in. I have called Visa over someone else's card more than I have over my own card!

One thing I won't do is spend it all myself. Part of it always goes into a charity pot somewhere. When I found the $80 it was really cool because I was just starting to load things up for a Christmas Shoebox, so that was great that I got to do two shoeboxes that year.

We find a lot of money in clothes at the thrift shop. If you're cleaning out someone's closet, make sure you check all the pockets before sending it in!

I was once snorkeling in the Gulf of Mexico and found a $20 bill underwater sitting on the sand. Absolutely no way I could have tracked down the owner of THAT so I really didn't feel too bad! What goes around comes around. I'm sure I've probably lost money at some point that went into the pocket of another. :)

Found a $100 bill when I was little. I was so young that ever since then I still look down when I walk just in case!

I found about $120 in the parking lot at JoAnns once. I took it inside and they put in in their safe for a week to see if anyone asked about it. I really expected someone at the store to take it and say the owners had claimed it, but nope. I asked a week later and they gave it to me!

A few years ago a found a twenty in the grocery store. No one at all around. I gave it to customer service and when I was leaving the store they called me over and told me to keep it. They didn't reAlly give a lot of time for someone to claim it

My sister bought a recliner from Goodwill to give her husband as a Father's Day gift. When they got it set up, they found inside the chair there was an old coffee can with over $9000 in it!! They went back to the store but the chair had just been dropped off, they had no idea who had donated it. So they went to the police who said they would hold the money for 30 days and if no one came in to claim it, it was theirs. Thirty days later, nobody came to claim it, and my sister had new cabinets and counters put in her kitchen. Best Father's Day gift ever.

You could have asked the fish if it was there's. ;-)

I also keep money I find on the ground. One day in dd I found about $200 on the floor. I asked the people in front of me if it was there's, they said it was and I gave it back. Now I have no way of knowing if it was there's, but I figure the bad karma was on them if it wasn't. :-)

Back in college, I was walking on campus one day and noticed one of my roommates a block or so ahead of me. As I got a little closer I noticed he dropped something from his pocket. As I got to that point, I looked down, and it was a $100 bill! This was a very busy area of campus too. I picked it up and stayed behind him as he went to the Bursars Office to pay a bill. I waited until he started freaking out and digging through his pockets, then gave him the money. It was pretty funny, and lucky for him. Of course, I also ragged on him for quite a while about carrying what to us was a fortune wadded up in his front packet. (He had another couple hundreds in there that luckily he had not dropped.)

I also find passports! I'm surprised at the number of people who seemingly carry those around. Was going to a play at our big auditorium and found a passport,, it belonged to the guy playing the lead in the play!

Last money I found was last month in Key West. As we were leaving the bar I found 8 dollars under my barstool. It very well may have been mine to start with.
