It's been so long since we flew anywhere, just need your advice. I found flights from Halifax to Orlando in November with Delta, on their website. For the 4 of us to go with taxes and fees the total would be $1637.84. Is this good? How long will this be available for? How is it flying with Delta? The stopovers are at JFK and going down it's 55min, do you see any troubles with this? What about trip cancelation insurance? Any help would be really appreciated. thanks

This far in advance from Halifax, I think around $1600 is a go ... yes, it may drop, but I wouldn't risk it. Delta has been running with a low end of around 420 per person for a while now, but remember to include a bag fee when comparing to Air Canada etc.

If everyone has one bag, then this compares to $470 per person with AirCanada. If AC was $470 I would be tempted to take AC.

55 minutes would be okay in JFK ... you should note that JFK has a bad reputation for being late .. so 55 minutes could grow.

Trip Ins .... I never buy it ... but I never cancel anything ... Anyone else care to chime in?

It sounds like a good deal to me. A friend of mine flew Delta this past October and their flight was delayed heading down to Orlando so they missed their connection but Delta took good care of them and put them up in the hotel at the airport and flew them out on the first morning flight plus gave meal vouchers so if you happen to get delayed and miss your connector, they will take care of you. I would make sure to book directly on the Delta website.

Like Ted, I never buy cancellation insurance because I never cancel vacations and there are a few rules for using cancellation insurance so read the small print to see if it works for you if you decide to buy.

Have an awesome vacation!:woohoo:

Is this good? Yes.

How long will this be available for? Could be gone now, may still be there in a month. If you like the prices and times, go for it :)

How is it flying with Delta?
Fine

The stopovers are at JFK and going down it's 55min, do you see any troubles with this? Not really...you pre-clear USA Border in YHZ, you may have to hustle between gates, but you could have 2 hours between flights and have issues...it's always a tossup with travel :)

What about trip cancelation insurance?
Use our Visa, has some variation of TI/TC on it, but never had to cancel anything, knock wood;)

Any help would be really appreciated. thanks
Hope that helps!:)

Have fun!!! Travel carry-ons there, buy luggage there, you may need only one bag checked - Ross or Bells outlets have some good prices.

Have fun!!!
:)

We have been plannning our trip and watching flights for a year. Our flight budget was $500 tax , extras from YHZ. Sometimes you might find a lower price but times, connections etc. weren't great. We are flying in October. Tuesdays are also better days for cheaper flights.

We also watched the Aeroplan for the past year. Two weeks ago, we were able to book 5 flights from YHZ together for 25,000 points each. When we called the 1-800 #, the agent couldn't believe the availability, as Aeroplan is difficult to book for more than two people. We paid $900 for taxes, but this was a sweet deal for 5 people.

Good luck!

We are also thinking about going in Nov. We just bought a new Hyundai, and the dealership had a promotion for a free (pay for port fees not sure what else) 4 days cruise. It can leave out of Port Canaveral. So I got to thinking perhaps we can tack on a few Disney days, since we will be in Orlando area.

Just looked at JEt Blue out of Portland. The rate was $299, taxes in.
I don;t mond the drive. Plus you could do some shopping in the US before or after, and leave your stuff in the car, thus not dragging it on the plane.

The last few times we have gone to Florida, we went with Airtransat direct from Halifax with really good prices. Airtransat does not fly from there in Nov. Does AC fly direct from Halifax in Nov?

Hopefully there will be some seat sales soon for november. I would love to see Disney decorated for Xmas:wizard:

Being from Ontario here, I'm not sure how far Manchester, NH is from you, but I found SW flies to MCO for around $1060 for a family of 4.
