Found a lump today...

:grouphug: Steph, cut out ALL caffeine and see if that helps. My 2 friends and I had these issues and they went away in all 3 of us when we cut out the caffeine. We even joke around now about Pepsi and Caffeine-Free Pepsi calling them Lumpy Pepsi (regular with caffeine) and Non-Lumpy Pepsi (caffeine free).

Big hugs coming to you! :grouphug: I know you must be terrified. Please keep us posted with the results. Call your DR and ask if there is a cancellation so you can be seen sooner.

Steph,

Please try to calm down. My doctor found a lump about 5 years ago (I was 35) and sent me for a mammogram. It was about a 3 week wait and within that 3 weeks I planned my whole funeral went on an already planned trip and was fearless because I knew I was about to die from cancer. Ugh!
My lump sounds close to where yours was and it was nothing--well, it was something but not even a cyst. It was something that is part of the body, but I can't remember what she said it was called. I was so relieved.

Breathe deep from your stomach and talk positive to yourself. You need to find out what it is but try not to think the worst. Hugs!!!

Ditto what Clarabelle said. I used to ALWAYS be told I had fibrocystic breasts by my doctor, every year. I never drank coffee but I used to be addicted to Diet Pepsi. I have now given up ALL caffeine and it has been years and years since I felt a lump, and since my doctor said I had fibrocystic breasts. You know, caffeine is great but it is just not worth the worry.

As for your lump, once I had a terrible lump, it felt like a stone. It was huge. (I was 28 at the time). When I walked down the stairs I could even feel it in my breast, like you'd feel a stone in your shoe. Really! It had shooting pains and was terrible. Turns out I had mastitis. I didn't think I could get that as I have not had kids (I thought that was a breastfeeding problem. ) But that is what it was, so I took two or three weeks of antibiotics. After the infection went away, it took 3 months for the lump to completely dissolve--I went back once a month for 3 months.

Anyway, I'm 33 now and that one hasn't been back. I'd be very surprised if you have C, but of course check it out. I know a lot of people who've had it, and none of them had pain. Also, all of my friends who have had mastitis describe it like you did, and that is what it felt like to me.

Kick the caffeine to the curb, and good luck!!! :wizard:

I had the same thing this summer. Shooting pain, felt a mass in my right breast. Hard, definitely felt different than the other one. My Gyn felt it also, went for an ultrasound. It was nothing, just that my right breast was more dense than the other. Doesn't everyone have 1 bigger than the other? I never noticed it before so it freaked me out. Dont worry!

My sister is friends with one of the top breast cancer surgeons in the country. Our mother had breast cancer so she's discussed this with her a lot.

Pains in the breast are ALMOST NEVER caused by breast cancer. Yes, you should check this out, and I know how stressful this is, but just wanted to give you this info in hopes that it may help.

Oh, how handy. I wish I was friends with a breast surgeon... :goodvibes

I am another one with cystic breasts who has not only planned my own funeral, but also instructed my husband to remarry before my body is even cold so that my girls will not have to be motherless.

Call your doctor and tell them that you are neurotic and cannot possibly wait for an appointment. Tell them that you are not sleeping, vomiting, and having panic attacks. I do it whenever I cannot wait for an appointment and my physicians are very good about working me into a busy schedule. The sad part is that I am not lying to get my own way because I truly could make myself sick if I had to wait too long for results.

I have been assured countless times that pain is not a first sign of cancer which is why breast cancer frequently goes undetected for so long. Try to remember that you have a history of cysts and this could just be a cyst that feels different because of its location.

Keep us posted and try to enjoy the weekend with your kids. :grouphug:

I had a harmless fluid-filled cyst once that behaved much like that. Try not to worry until you know for sure that this is something serious. There's just too many other possibilities.

Yeah - I keep hoping that since we have this REALLY good contact that we will never have to need her.:flower:

Chrisnsteph - Try not to worry until you've got to. You're a fighter, a survivor. You will get through this. Hugs to you at this difficult time.

Chrisnsteph - some of your questions can probably be answered by ladies on the DIS Breast Cancer Survivors thread. Even just reading through there might help you out some and calm you a bit. I agree, no matter what it might ALWAYS call your doctor when you have unknown lumps or pains in your breasts. It's always best to be safe than sorry!!! I have had similar situations and they have nothing but some people have had similar situations and they are something. So get it checked out and now keep feeling monthly - BSE's ARE very important!

Good wishes and prayers are with you, Steph. And I agree with Cruise above, maybe stop by that thread, good ladies there to help answer questions, though, as said also, not a substitute for a doctor. My best.

I am sure everythign will be fine. But call your doc and try to get an appointment sooner to ease your mind. :grouphug:

I haven't read all the posts, but I just wanted to offer a hug for you. Go to the dr.....soon. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Let us know how it goes... :grouphug:
