On the Theme Parks board and on other Disney Forums, it's been announced FotLK closes January 5th and will re-open in the new theater in Summer 2014. No exact date for the re-opening but many sources are reporting January 5th as the last day of shows before it goes dark.

Funny, this was the same date that they said it would close last year. I seriously doubt they will close it for that long of a period of time.

It is too popular and they can build the new theater, then close the show for a few weeks and reopen it.

The sources who are reporting appear to have knowledge of the information given to Festival CMs. It will be sad for all involved to be dark for such a length of time.

As pp's have said, it seems weird that it would be closed that long. Its way too popular of a show for that, isnt that why they decided to build the theatre first?I could understand a week or two, especially if they have plans to aimply move all the lights/tech stuff.

It also seems pretty rough to put that many entertainment CM's out of one position at the same time that there is no 3pm parade at Mk, no DHS parade or anything there....

Heres hoping it doesnt stay closed that long

FoLK cast told today that all new cast is going to be put in new theatre. Basically a reaudition, because of an updated show. On Jan 1st.

Despite the fact that they say Jan 1st, I assume they will wait until the 5th like the original rumor since that will be the end of the holiday season.

1) We "tip Brewskies" almost weekly with some of the Tumble Monkeys.
2) They have already been told they are being furloughed.
3) Until training for the new venue begins, they can
. . . apply for their current jobs through an open audition *
. . . apply for unpaid time
. . . apply for 2014 and/or prior year(s) carryover vacation time
. . . apply for other vacant/available entertainment slots
. . . apply for other open WDW positions (the union must agree)
4) This time, they HAVE to move the show.
. . . the new FoTLK arena is well under construction behind Tusker House
. . . the chain-of-events for Avatarland have begun
. . . and, the downhill snowball is gaining speed
. . . schedules MUST be kept
. . . there are a lot of steps, include area relocations like FoTLK

* From what we can see, it APPEARS like the Stage Area is slightly smaller than the current
show's floor area. We do not know of the exact show contact/staging differences.

Glad to know this about FotLK. I haven't seen it in quite awhile and I need to make time to see it on the next trip and if the 1/5 date holds true, I may get to see one of the final shows.

Glad I will be able to see it again in December before hiatus.

I am sure they are re-using a lot of the old theater parts and can't make the new one ready that easily. The floats are practically railroad cars and if the new theater is smaller they may need to rebuild them to fit.
