I know in years past that during the busy times - like summer - FOTL access might be limited to before 11 AM and after 3 PM.

As anyone recently been to Universal and used FOTL??? If so, were there any limits?

We are going July 9th and I'd like to have any idea of what to expect.

Thanks,
Disney NJ

Thanks, Phamton, for the update. I've heard June can be a very busy time at the parks, so that's encouraging. It would be fantastic if we could use our FOTL all day when we go in July, but we have already warned our boys we might not be able to use this perk in the middle of the day.

I think I'll contact the Portofino directly just before we leave to verify the status of FOTL.

Thanks again,
Disney NJ

Even if they limit FOTL it doesn't have a huge effect. It's so hot in the middle of the day in July that we always want to take a pool break then anyway! The good news is the parks are open late so there's plenty of time to enjoy FOTL.

Hey I'm booked from Jluy 8th through 14th.
I have an 11,8 and 8month old (yes).

I really hope FOLT keeps the waits down.

Also does any have a recommendation for heat avoidance.
I hear it gets hot and I don't thing my little one will like it.

What hours of the day should I plan on the pool at RPR?

It is just going to be hot, period. Even at night, its going to be 72-78 at night even. Avoid about 1-5 or so and you will avoid the hottest part of the day. And rain isn't necessarily a good thing unless it rains for a while. Heat + Water = Steam. I try to eat at 1 or 2 and then go back to the parks around 4 or 5 and its not too horrible. You still get to spend 9AM-1PM and 5PM-10PM at the parks, thats 9 hours...plenty to enjoy everything especially with FOTL access. Good luck with the little one!

We were there June 7 to 11, and there was no limit.

Actually, it was not very crowded at all, at least on the Studios side. There were many, many attractions that only had 10 minute waits in stand-by, and this was in the middle of the day.

Over in IOA, the stand-by waits were 20 to 30 minutes for the big attractions (Spiderman, Hulk, Dueling Dragons, River Adventure).

Deb, how was your trip? I was wondering if everything went smoothly.

Hi phantom!!

Brief recap: FOTL was worth paying for Royal Pacific, especially since I got a good deal through Hotel Kingdom! Got a $159 rate. They were selling the Universal Express Plus for $20 per person, so for the 4 of us, if we had purchased that, it would have been $80 per day! So we figure the room was only costing us $79!

With FOTL, we did everything we wanted to do, and many things twice. We got the 5 consecutive days for the price of 2 (and only used 4 of the days, due to our early Saturday flight departure). The only attraction we did not do was Fear Factor Live -- we are definitely not reality TV fans, and instead, chose to do MiB again!!

As for the rides, all of us are now tall enough for even the big coasters, so we finally all rode Hulk and Dueling Dragons - twice each. Twice was enough. My head was spinning afterward, although my son Mark wanted to do them again. We thought Jimmy Neutron was a nice update from Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera. Shrek 4D was also good, and gave a needed update from Alfred Hitchcock. Not that we didn't like those classics; I think it's just that few people these days know (or care) about the Hanna-Barbera cartoons or the Hitchcock classics. I fear the "Lucy, A Tribute" may be the next to go. . .
Also LOVED the Mummy!! What a great ride, and fantastic visuals!! Very short, though.

Ate at Emeril's Tchoup Chop -- easily one of the best meals I've ever had!! And relatively reasonable prices -- entrees in the $20's. Even has a childrens' menu. Also ate at Mythos -- it is a beautifully themed restaurant and a very well done menu as well!! It was booked for a private event later that night, so we had to eat early, and were like the only ones in the place!
Our reseravtion for Lombard's Landing was bumped - another private event that closed the restaurant down (what is it with Universal shutting their full service restaurants for private events all the time?), but the manager took us to Finnegan's and bought us a free appetizer for our inconvience.

Finally, the room. Royal Pacific has a beautiful lobby, but left a bit to be desired for the room. First of all, we checked in early and got our FOTL cards, and were promised our room by 4 pm. Well, after several phone calls and even coming back to the hotel by 3:45, we still had no room. Our room is finally open to us at 4:10. We were in Tower 1, 5th floor. We noticed some damage/wear and tear that would have been fixed at Disney -- a busted out light fixture in the hall, marks and streaks on the walls of our room, and the AC went out one night (hotel-wide), with the temp in the room reaching 78 degrees!!! But the biggest problem we had were ANTS CRAWLING OUT OF THE COFFEE POT!!! I think they were attracted by the sugar/creamer packets, but it was so disgusting!!!

We were also booked in the middle of a huge wireless communication convention, but we didn't care too much about having conventioneers everywhere (I know some DIS'ers tend to complain about them).

So, in summary, we thought the attractions (especially if you have kids 10 and up) were a THUMBS UP, but the hotel, at least in our experience, just didn't have that Disney Magic.

Ants! I wouldn't have been happy about that either. It sounds like the hotel needs some work.

It seems like you had a great time at the parks though. I know that there were several conventions going on. Microsoft even rented out the park one night last week. I guess if you have enough money, you can buy anything.

MIB and Mummy are my favorite rides. I love the coasters but can only go 2 times in a row without experiencing a little dizziness and nausea---it comes with getting older I guess because when I was a teen I could ride coasters over and over again.

I've wondered if Lucy's tribute would be next. Most kids have never heard of her. They do have the characters of Lucy and Desi out signing autographs. The Desi character looks exactly like him! I saw Lucy and Desi with Marilyn Monroe yesterday. They were all signing autographs and posing for pictures. I didn't see any kids in line, just lots of middle aged men posing between Lucy and Marilyn. It was so cute!
