September is a slow time (with the exception of Labor Day weekend), but as your dates get closer, it is also an awesome time for hotel deals if you have an AP. We went last September, and the Tuesday after Labor Day, it was a ghost town. The staff at the RPR Club lounge told us occupancy @ RPR was down to 22%, and the PBH was only at 16%. We got stay 3 nights, get the 4th free in September.
Even in low season there can be queue's at peak times during the day, expecially for the more popular rides sich as The Mummy & Spiderman. If you have FOTL it will stop you worrying about queue times and mean you dont have to get up at the crack of dwan to hit the parks before everybody else.
I am staying at HRH for one night in Oct partly because the hotel looks cool & partly because of FOTL. While in Orlando I go commando and make df get up really early to limit our queueing time, this way we stay in a top notch hotel, get a lie in and no queueing regardless of wether the standby line is 10mins or 90!
