I'm thinking about staying one night at the RPR in Oct ..
it would be $129 per night (not too bad) with the APH rate.
Does the FOTL work with HHN? And how would it work if we booked for Sunday night, we receive FOTL Sunday only, or Monday day instead of Sunday?

No..Halloween Horror Nights is a separate event that requires additional tix. FOTL does not apply to HHN. However, they do offer the Express Pay Plus for whatever night you're going. Mine was $20 last year. HHN is usually on Thursday-Sundays only..no Mondays. They won't release the new schedule for a couple of months yet but if it's like last year, they will stick with that schedule.

As mentioned, your hotel FOTL will not apply to HHN. However, if you book Sunday night, you will have FOTL at the parks all day Sunday AND all day Monday!

Darn .. I was going to just go to HHN on Sunday as we wouldn't be there -too- early, probably around 1PM as I wait for the family from another state arrive from the train. I had another question, does anyone know how much the HHN tickets normally are and how much/what is "Stay and Scream"? Is there an Annual Pass for HHN? We were going to be there for a week .. and we have AP passes aswell.

HHN doesn't usually start until around 6:30-7pm. They offer a Frequent Fear Pass which is good for unlimited admission on OFF PEAK nights. Off peak nights are Sundays and Thursdays. You get a $10 discount off of the FF pass since you have an AP. Since you're going to be here a week and you could do at least two nights, I would definately suggest getting the FF pass as soon as you arrive. Last year with my discount, I paid $45 for the pass and another $20 for the EP Plus on that Thursday night. The regular admission is something like $54 for ONE night. I went Sunday and Thursday and had a blast both nights.

Well I'm going Oct 2nd through that Thursday .. but it doesn't seem like HHN will happen at all during this times, although if I recall, last year it did. Why wouldn't they do the first Sunday? US/IOA closes normal times, makes it feel a bit odd like I might miss HHN this year, nooo! If they DO have it both nights, Sunday/Thursday, definitely FFP. Just a quick question .. Can I get the $30 pass (discounted one day HHN ticket) and upgrade my next visit (such as Thursday) to the FFP?

You can but it would cost you roughly $75 to do that. You should just stick with the FFP which runs roughly $45. Checking the calender, they should start HHN on October 1..which is a Saturday.

We won't be arriving until the 2nd, though. And we're leaving on the 6th at the latest.

You can still do HHN on the Sunday you arrive. Actually now that I think about it, they did do some Wednesday nights early in October. That might work so you could do Sunday and Wednesday night. Again, the schedule won't be out for a while yet but with the attendance they had last year, I can't imagine them cutting days back..but you never know.

I thought last year they did do some Sun / Wed / Thurs .. thought maybe I was going crazy (I went on Halloween last year, too long of lines) .. can't wait to go this year. Hope they do have Wed or atleast Sun, although it seems US/IOA close early on these dates when HHN will happen, but not on Sun/Wed/Thurs of the 1st week.

I know what you mean. Last year was my first HHN and I didn't want it to end. I really hope they outdo themselves this year. In any event, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! :teeth:

Last year, I paid for a peak night pass using my AP discount and then upgraded to the Frequent fear pass for only $15 before I left the park. Slacking (who posts here) also did the same thing. Best $15 investment I ever made.

Yeah, I was looking over that .. although I won't be there any peak nights (yay! hate those long long long long lines) .. I've gone to HHN the past two years, and hope to continue the trend, but if it won't be there anytime the 2nd week from Sunday to Thursday, Universal seriously needs to reconsider .. I would assume it would be open Sunday, at a minimum.

Yup, felt like this was the way to do it. I also hit Guest services as soon as the park opened to upgrade so there weren't long lines.

About stay & scream. There is a specific area where you go and hang out until they let you out and enjoy the houses. There is no extra cost, but you have to be in the park (with paid daily admission or an AP) and have a ticket for that night's HHN.

So all I have to do is purchase a HHN ticket for that night when we arrive for us all using my AP pass? Then we can simply stay in the park that night?
Thought Stay and Scream was cheaper than the normal HHN admission.

Stay and Scream isn't cheaper. It just gives you a jump on the crowds. You can hit two or 3 houses before the general public is admitted for HHN. They open up some houses and rides early for Stay and Scream people.

Gotcha.
I've been looking through hotel+airfair websites.
Do you know of any besides Expedia/Cheap Tickets?
Expedia has an amazing deal .. four nights offsite + three plain tickets for $650ish.
Believe that was $215 approx per person at the Orlando Grand Plaza Hotel & Suites, looking more and more less likely staying onsite. I assume crowds aren't too bad around the beginning of Oct pre-HHN? I've never gone that early to HHN, crowds OK compared to late Oct crowds for HHN?

During the days in October it is not crowded but it seems that every night at HHN is crowded, at least to me. Expect huge crowds on peak nights and moderate crowds on non-peak nights.

Take advantage of Stay and Scream. It works best on Peak nights, but even on Non-Peak Nights you can hit 2-3 houses before the gates officially open. Last year I went through DisOrientorium by myself with nobody around me, and it made me see the house in a whole different light. (it made me like it!)

Stay and Scream is free, assuming I have my tickets for that day (getting 5-day passes for the family, I have my AP) and my HHN tix? I don't know if we can do S&S because we have an elderly family member we would be taking back to the hotel (whether it is onsite or offsite) after that day.
