On our trip in 2008, my husband and I gave into to pin trader lanyards to hold our Keys to the Kingdom (and a few pins for memories). They were great until the plastic pouch on mine was ripped off by a ride restraint bar. After exchanging two replacements, I gave up and started to hold my key in a pocket instead. I don't know if this has happened to any one else?
This time we'll be prepared. I've fortified the the mechanism that holds the little pouch on with a key ring, instead of the little closed metal ring, and inserted a large sewing eyelet in the hole on the pouch (eyelets and tools came in a kit from craft store).
I was so excited about them I thought I'd share....
Original Design - Stock Photo (I didn't think to take pictures of it until after I was done) You can see the little rinky metal ring that kept pulling apart on me last time...
sorry for the big pics - photobucket is not cooperating today.
Helper Kitty and my Lanyard (sorry for the fuzzy phone photo)
Close up of key ring to replace the metal ring and the eyelet through the hole in the plastic pouch...
