Want to go with the bf. he likes the outdoors and i like anything disney. Can somebody tell me about it?

They have a lodge?
Cabins?
And rv place ( has anybody just rented a rv for a couple days just do to it)

The lodge didnt seem outdoors enough for me.
The cabins I'm not a fan of the set up for two people.
I thought the rv would be fun but we don't have one so we'd need to rent one.

What is there to do.

Tell me all about it please :)

it's a great resort...lots to do...biking, boating...etc...

while I haven't rented at FW several DIS people have rented tents or trailers, you'd probably get more detailed replies posting your questions on the camping sub forum.

The Fort Wilderness area is great and very "outdoorsey". We love the quiet tranquility compared to the busy parks. The location on Bay Lake is beautiful, and having the boat to get to Magic Kingdom is nice. The campground is spread out over about a square mile, and at one end there is the boat dock, Trail's End restaurant, and the Hoop De Doo Revue show. There is also a small store / gift shop here. There is another larger store near a large park in the middle of the resort, and they have a pool, sports areas, and campfires near here. The bus depot is at the North end of the resort, and that is where you will transfer to buses to get to all of the parks except MK, which is accessible by boat. Wilderness Lodge is about a 15-20 minute walk away from the marina area, but is a separate resort and like you mentioned, much more of a nice indoor hotel.

Going with just the two of you, there aren't a lot of great low cost options. The cabins are fairly expensive, and while you could stay in a standard room at Wilderness Lodge for less, you are inside a nice hotel, not out in the outdoors. There are companies that rent RVs, but something to keep in mind is spaces at FW are far more expensive than most RV parks, so when you add rental on top of that it gets expensive really quick. Camping in a tent is another option, depending on how close to the outdoors you want to get. Like another poster suggested, check out the camping section of the boards for more info on that. Also, if you like the outdoors it is worth stopping by FW no matter where you end up staying at WDW. Good luck planning your trip. :thumbsup2

Go to the camping forum, lots of great people over there to give great advice. The fort is the only disney resort I have stayed in, but I'm a novice compared to some of those folks! Tent camping is fun and would be a great inexpensive alternative. I have never tent camped except at disney, but the tent sites are cheaper than the bigger rv sites. Happy camping ! :)

There is no lodge at Fort Wilderness. You are confusing Fort Wilderness with Wilderness Lodge which is a completely different resort. The only thing they have in common is the word Wilderness in the name.

Fort Wilderness is the campgrounds with cabins and campsites where you can tent camp or park an RV (depending on the kind of site). Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort that includes the Disney Vacation Club Villas at Wilderness Lodge connected to it.

It's a fabulous resort I would stay at Fort Wilderness any day. They have spacious cabins, tent/RV spots with hook ups for TV wifi and other such things. The wilderness lodge is a great place as well. The cabins are a very fun time I think you would be very happy with it especially as a getaway for two people its perfect. The RV rental along with the campsite with the bathroom/electronical hook up could get expensive. I think cabins would be the best option.

disney lover at heart

Yes I did get them jumbled together. Is there a pool at fort wilderness? And can you set up just a tent?!

They just renovated the pool at Fort Wilderness last year. And you are permitted to tent camp. You just need to reserve the space.
