My kids love camping. I'm really excited about the cabins. Buuuuutttt.... I've seen pics. They look like plastic log covered mobile homes. Are they worth the extra $700 for 6 nights? We look forward to the sing along, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra $$. We have 5, so we can't do any of the value resorts. Port Orleans Riverside looks neat. Also, Fort Wilderness seems really far away... is that a consideration? And, no water slide? It seems like a lot of money and I'm not sure it's worth it. Any opinions? Also, we thought we might save a little by using the kitchen. But, then I realized I'd have to rent a car to go grocery shopping! Any thoughts?

We stayed in the FW Cab. the last week in July, we had a great time. We were a family of 5. (DS 17, DS 14 & DD 3). The Cabins are very nice and roomy. Fw has good transportation, with boat service to the MK, CR and WL. I think that it is worth the extra money.

We are staying again at FW in a camper this Dec., we have stayed at the Cabins before and you will have more room than POR. We have also stayed there with five and enjoyed it also. There is a larger food selection at the FW stores. We usually have cereal/juice in the morning for the kids no matter where we stay. I hear all kinds of different complaints about different resorts but we like them all. Fw is really a nice place and after all it does host the the most popular resturant in WDW, HOOP de DOO. Our first stay at FW was 33 years ago, does that tell you we like Disney.

FW Cabins are, I think, modular homes. They are great because they are much larger than a room at POR. 1 set of bunks and a double in the bedroom, and a pull down Murphy bed in the living room. That is the bed DH and I used, while kids got the bedroom. It was nice to have a kitchen, too.

However, the pool areas are not great. No slides, no themeing. I have read here that people prefer to have a car while staying there, especially having to take a bus to AK and MGM. With planning, you can take the boat and catch the monorail. There is a grocery store onsite, but it's very pricey, maybe you could rent a car for part of your stay and return it to the Car CAre Center after getting groceries.

We stayed at the cabins w/ 5 in our family in 2003 & loved them!! We used Tiffany's town car service at the time & they made a stop at the grocery store w/ us. This time (w/ disney taking care of the transport) we are going to use WeGoShop.com & have our grocerys delievered.

We found the bus & boat transport to not be a problem at all (& loved watching all the peacocks at the bus stops) The boat to MK is especially fun & peaceful.

The best thing about the cabins, though, is that you don't have to worry about noise at all. We never had to tell the kids to quite down, because they couldn't bother the people below or next to us. We also never heard any noise from other families. We could be as loud as we usually are & it was no problem.

Good Luck w/ your choice.
