In April we are staying at the Fort. I promised my twelve year old a day trip to Sea World. I need to know the best way to get there and if it can be done in one day.

Don't think there are any buses, but we always have our car so I've never checked. Hopefully someone else will comment.

I get confused on how I-4 runs and it designated as an East West not North South that is why I corrected my post.

Yes, you can actually get to Sea World from the Fort in just one day.
Actually it'll only take you about 20-30 minutes by car, and that would be the best way.

Yes, there is actually a way to get there by bus. It is the Lynx City bus system.

First go to www.golynx.com

At that website look up the route and times for Lynx #50.

You will see that it runs from the TTC to Downtown Orlando and one of the stops is SeaWorld.

So, first thing is take a boat from Ft. Wilderness to Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary, then get on the monorail and get off at TTC.

Once at the TTC ask the first cast member you see where the Lynx bus stops are and proceed that direction.

The ride is $2.00 per person each direction. (Children may be less, not sure). When you get on the bus, tell the driver you want to get off at Sea World.

(FYI, it is the third stop after you get off I-4). There are intermediate stops on the route that are not on the map.

Then walk across the SeaWorld parking lot and you are there.

When you are ready to return, walk back across the SeaWorld parking lot and cross the street and you will catch Lynx #50 back to Disney. There is a stop at DTD Westside. I got off at that stop and went to dinner at DTD after leaving SeaWorld. It also goes back to TTC if you just want to go back to the Fort.

Most of the rides and attractions can be done at a leisurely pace in one day. However, most of the time the tickets are "2nd day free", so I did go back another afternoon to catch one more show that I missed.

I was gonna do the Lynx bus a couple years ago to Sea World, but heard some absolute horror stories re. the safety of this particular route by people who had done just this trip, and the indifference of the driver re. same. Myself, I don't worry so much, but I did have my wife with me who freaks on such things.

I did take the bus solo last month and did not feel unsafe at all. There were about 4 other families on the bus doing the same thing I was, and several night shift CMs leaving Disney property.

On the way back in the evening, still no feeling of danger or uneasiness. A couple of families also leaving Sea World with me and then once we got closer to DTD, many CMs coming in for their shifts on property.

(You can tell now cause some CMs are allowed to wear their costumes home).
