Fort Wilderness RV Show on DIY Network...

Thanks...can't wait to watch the show tomorrow morning. This October will be our 2nd trip to Ft. Wilderness...can hardly wait to be there!

Just saw the show...pretty informative and I always love seeing stuff about Disney and the resort areas. We pretty much will never be able to afford to buy a Class A like they were showcasing (maybe we could rent for a week someday). We are in the process of trying to sell our DVC to turn around and buy a popup camper (to take to Fort Wilderness among other places). Call me crazy, I guess!

I had the show set up to be recorded starting a few months ago just to watch that episode when it finally aired (I know quite a bit about RV'ing now and we're tenters!) but somehow it was stopped. Thanks to you I caught it in time, loved the episode, still hooked on the show.

Glad I could help! Of course, we're interested in pop-ups not Class A's (only because we can't afford one) so I wished they had shown less RV stuff and more Fort Wilderness.

Ok I will be the one to call you crazy why would you sell your DVC to buy a tent trailer that is crazy LOL. My wife just got a new tent trailer but there was no way in hell she would ever sell our DVC points not now not ever she loves the accomodations to much no matter how much she loves camping she will never give up the rooms at OKW, SSR, BWV and many other great places.

Because we can't afford both and I want my almost 5 year old son to have a different kind of vacation experience at the moment. And while yes, the DVC resorts are nice, I like the other deluxe resorts (think Polynesian, etc.) and moderates too - heck, even values while my son is so young right now (as long as I get to vacation at Disney when I want, I really don't care how I do it, but I'm not going to put my family's monthly finances down the tubes to do it either). Don't worry, if/when the DVC Contemporary comes about, I'll probably look into it.

Did I read somewhere that you can use your DVC points at Ft. Wilderness? If so, campsite or cabin?

Actually both. As a matter of fact we have a reservation for the cabins for 6 nights with our points for January, of course, being that we're trying to sell our contract, I need to cancel that ressie at some point. (Campsites go for 6 points and up per night I think).

You are correct Heather but I think it is 6 points per night for prefered or any site at FW. As for the other vacations and other resorts we always move on our weekends saves points then we stay at CSR or one of the All Stars or even head out to one of the coasts. We also have a cottage we can use up north when we want we wnt over the labourday weekend for the first time in about 8 years. We had fun and I drank way way to much LOL. As for teh CR rumour I really hope it doesn't happen I would prefer CSR to get DVC we don't care for the Contemporary.
