Along with the news that TCD has already shared about the restored car returning to The Fort in a few weeks, there is more news that you may not have heard.

First, David Leaphart has released 2 volumes dedicated to the FWRR. I ordered mine last week, and got them yesterday. Loaded with photos and lots of detailed information. :thumbsup2

Second, some may recall that a few years ago, Accucraft was commissioned to build a FWRR live steam, G-Scale locomotive and cars. In just a few weeks, the electric engine should be ready to ship. I am happy to say, I have ordered mine!!!:3dglasses

I am also happy to say that we are going to be making our first camping trip back in about a year at the end of September.:cool1:

Wow, Tony, that's $70 on the books and $595+ on the model train.

I'm not sure I like the railroad that much.

So, how's the book?

I am NOT sharing this information with my DH. He has an attic full of Lionel Trains and would jump at the chance to own these babies! He does not need any more crap.

But hey....thanks for sharing this info! I enjoyed looking at it.

Also - it's good to see you back on the board, Tony. It's been awhile!

This was not in our budget at all. But over the years I have often visited the Disney store at the outlet mall, and made some good purchases. I had collected a number of monorail accessories that had gone on clearance. I sold them all on Ebay and ended up with more than enough to buy 2 Engines if I wanted to. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have only thumbed through the books, but so far they look great. Lots of photos that I have never seen before. I have spent more on other Fort Wilderness memorabilia than I did on these 2 books. Money well spent, at least for me!!

The best FWRR souvenir I found was in the underbrush by the 1500 loop last Thanksgiving. I think I'll have to revisit that spot next trip and take my Indiana Jones hat with me. :thumbsup2

Yes, I too have explored that area and found some treasures. I started to take a hike back that way last year, but think I would need a machete to get through the vines!

If you use the code: NEWREAD305 when you order the books, you get a discount that will take the price down to about $56.00 including shipping.:teacher:

Just wanted to say that I got my copies yesterday (although I was following the books progress on another site www.burnsland.com). And they are very well done and worth the investment, especially if you are a Disney fan (if you're not, why are you on this board?), a fan of Fort Wilderness and a train buff (or any combination of the three!). Full of great historical tidbits, tons of photos, interviews, maps, etc. Very, very cool.

As far as I know they are only offered thru Lulu. There are two books:
Walt Disney World Railroads Part I: Fort Wilderness Railroad
and
FWRR Gallery Companion (filled with more photos that didn't fit in the first one I thinK!)

Enjoy!

Which outlet mall has a Disney store? I've read somewhere of a "discount" Disney store but have never been able to find out where it is.....:worship:

Although I haven't been to the Primeoutlet location for several years, the directory indicates they do still have a Disney Outlet Store. Both stores carry virtually the same merchandise. Lots of clothes, and seasonal items, along with special promotions like Flower and Garden, Food and Wine items. You never know what you will find. Some items are full price. Others are deeply discounted.

If you are on a budget, and want to get theme park merchandise, it is well worth taking the time to check them out. The links below have all the information about location, hours, phone numbers, etc.
