We have a party of 5, so we can not stay at the lodge portion of the resort so we will need to get a cabin. What pool access do we get, and can we use the lodge's pool? Do they 'card' people trying to use the pool?

Just not too sure of the rules. Thanks =)

@disneymom06 is correct in that Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge are 2 separate resorts. If you are staying at Ft. Wilderness you are only able to use the pools at Ft. Wilderness. Same goes with those staying at Wilderness Lodge, they can only use the pools at Wilderness Lodge.

And yes, the do "card".

The Wilderness Lodge has rooms with an occupancy of 5, both regular rooms and DVC villas.

There's Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort, and there's The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness. Despite both having "wilderness" in the name, they're different resorts, that don't share amenities. You're welcome to go to Wilderness Lodge to dine or shop or rent boats, as you could with any other Disney resort, but the only pools you have access to are the ones at Fort Wilderness.

Thanks for the replies =)

My issue is this:

We have a 7 night stay where we are splitting it up between Yacht and Beach, Polly, and Fort Wilderness. Yacht and Beach and Polly can fill 5 people on a normal standard room, Fort Wilderness Lodge I guess can not. I won't bore you with how I have planned this all out, but suffice to say it would be great if we could stay there for the night, and since we can not stay at the Lodge, we can stay in a cabin. I am hoping to make this a really nice trip in terms of staying at deluxe resorts, and am hoping that the campground won't be too much of a let down compared to the other resorts we will be staying at. My grandson loves to swim, and that is why I was hoping to use the lodges swimming pool if that was available (I have no clue how good the campground or the lodge's pools are, I am just assuming because it is cheaper it won't be as good).

Since you are staying at Y&B with what most consider the best pool, and Poly with another good pool, why don't you just focus your pool time while at those resorts. If you are only staying at the campground one night, maybe not even bother with the pool but do some of the other activities you won't find elsewhere or extended park time.

PP are correct Ft. Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge are two completely different resorts and probably about a mile of woods between them. There is a walking path through the woods but the closest cabin is a 1.3 mile walk and farthest closer to 2 mile walk. And you can't use the pools there, only go to dine, shop etc.

This article has good pictures of the Ft. Wilderness main pool you can use - and the quiet pool by the cabins.

Yes, but only at the club and/or 1 bedroom or higher level....you are now talking $500+ a night.
The studios at Boulder Ridge Villas sleep five with one queen bed, one double sleeper sofa and a bunk sized murphy bed.

Fort Wilderness is a different resort from Wilderness Lodge, just like the Contemporary is a different resort from Grand Floridian. Guests from one resort cannot use the other resort's pool.

That said, we've stayed at Fort Wilderness (in a tent) and loved it. It is very pretty and relaxed, with so much to do (bike riding, horseback riding, Chip & Dale-led marshmallow roasts at movie nights, archery, carriage rides, hayrides, Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner show, etc.) that isn't available at other resorts. The pool isn't amazing but it is fine, and it does have a spiral slide. FWIW, Wilderness Lodge's pool is not particularly better than the one at Fort Wilderness. It's prettier, but not a lot bigger.

To clarify: It is either Fort Wilderness and the Cabins OR it is Wilderness Lodge. It is not Fort Wilderness Lodge.
I agree with @HopperFan I would focus my pool time while at the BC or the Poly and plan on other things while at Fort Wilderness Cabins. Do your park time that day.
And the Cabins at Fort Wilderness are wonderful. Go in with an open mind, not expecting them to be less because they are cheaper. They are not less special, they are different than a hotel.

Thanks for the input, it has been very helpful. My plan is to have our 2 nights at Fort Wilderness sandwiched in between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard beach, so the kids should be all swam out by than (I hope lol). We were planning on going to Whispering Canyon though. Someone mentioned there was a trail, how big of a hassle is it to go to the Lodge? I had assumed both resorts were fairly close to each other (like Yacht is to Beach club, or French side is to Riverside). Is that not the case?

The trail is not that bad, but can get rather hot on a nice humid FL day. The trail is down by the horse stables by the boat launch. You also have the option to take the boat over to Wilderness Lodge and back to Fort Wilderness. We have stayed at the campground and done both ways of getting to the Wilderness Lodge.

The main pool at Fort Wilderness is great! It is also where you can enjoy Chip n Dale's campfire. There is a snack bar, volleyball, tennis, gift shop, playground, kiddie pool, water splash area, and hot tub. If you need to decompress and get away from the crowds, there is also a quiet pool in the cabin area between loops 2500 and 2700. It also has a hot tub.

I think you will love your time there! Each resort you have chosen has its own unique atmosphere! Have a magical time!

Definitely not as close as Yacht and Beach, or French Quarter and Riverside. There is a fitness/walking trail at FW that will take you over to WL, it's about 3/4 of a mile, but I don't believe it's lighted, so not really usable at night. Your best bet for traveling between the two resorts is to take the boat from the FW marina. It's a loop that stops at CR, WL, and FW.

Trail is nice and flat, and wide, it is a bike path / walking path. It is 1 mile from the Settlement bus stop to the Lodge. And like everyone has said, it is not lite. Early mornings you can see deer on the side of the path along with other wildlife. You can also catch a bus from the Settlement bus stop that goes over to the Lodge. The marquee will either say Yellow or Wilderness Lodge and loads / unloads from the horse barn side of the bus stop. The bigger pool at the Fort does have a waterslide for the kids and a hot tub for the adults, although kids use it also. The other pool in the cabin area is also nice, it has a hot tub as well but no waterslide, and NO LIFEGAURDS on duty, it is swim at own risk.

The walking trail between FW & WL is about a mile and is not lite. I'd recommend taking the boat. There is a route that circles FW/WL/CR all day. The entire loop is about 20 minutes. There is also a bus between FW & WL. When we took it several years ago, the stop was located near the Hoop Dee Doo.

Thanks, I didn't know this had changed!
They added the murphy bed to the VWL (now Boulder Ridge Villas) during the last renovation, about two/three years ago. CCV doesn't have the murphy bed in the studio.
