Fort Wilderness decal = update?

...Bought the vinyl stickers that with printed graphics.

Here is what a printed white vinyl graphic looks like after 1 year in the sun, only part of the day. This is a wood sign that was on the front of my house. I bought it exactly one year ago. This is why I prefer to pay the extra money for the layered vinyl graphics. They last 5-7 years and they don't fade back to white. I am replacing the graphic (that is white) with layered vinyl soon. This way, I save my beloved sign for the front of the house. The bottom of the sign is hand painted by the manufacturer.

I am not trying to poo poo vinyl printed graphic stickers, but if you are someone that has to leave your camper outside and it faces the sun in any direction, you need to know this information in order to make an informed decision.

So ends my public service announcement of the day....:teacher:

I'm surprised that your decal faded so much after just one year. I'm thinking that it wasn't printed correctly and/or it wasn't laminated.

I do printed and cut vinyl graphics for my company (please don't ask me make something for you :)).

Before I started, nothing was laminated and after around 2 years on the vehicles(in the sun, car washes, etc.) they do start to fade.

Since I have laminated my prints with the proper material they don't fade at all and I expect them to last the life of the vehicle. the laminate addes wear and UV fade protection.

I'm thinking your decal wasn't printed correctly or is not the right material and most likely not laminated.

So if you find a source for a printed decal ask them if it is laminated and what vinyl they use. It should be a quality material from 3M, Oracal or even Avery. If they are using pigment ink (what all home ink jets use) there are vinyls that you can print on but they only have a 6 month life.

I am thinking it wasn't, however, I could not control the quality because it was in a university bookstore and I "had to have it". I do have the vendor's name, which is on a sticker pasted on the back. I have a mind to call them, because I know that I will probably not be the only one.

My ears are burning, this is me  ! I recognize the OP's name, and about two others. I'm the seller from the link , I figure a lot of the buyers are Disers but never know for sure. Sometimes I ask if I suspect it :magnify:, well if you are and you decide to place an order please mention that you're a Diser and I'll include an extra something I have for board members. I guess mention if it's for an RV too. Please mention Disboards, otherwise I won't know :teacher: .

Hey guys we found someone who can make the decals of the designs shanman designed, pm me for more info. (they actually have shanmans artwork they got from a link on here from that other thread)

They will probably get nailed for "Copyright Infringement", all of the art work such as what Shan Man has on his sight can be used as long as it is not for profit. Disney will catch up with them.

You would think, but there is some idiot on there selling 'Mickey flipping a bird' and 'Stoner Mickey' decals for years. I would expect them to go after those damaging their brands before those merely trying to fill a void left by their short-sighted merchandising decisions. But yes, folks trying to make a dime off of Disney's properties are certainly "hanging them out there"! That's exactly why I posted the files I've redrawn for folks to access and use them for their own personal projects, rather than expose myself to scrutiny.

Hmm, I see some posts were deleted.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm....huh Shan? just hmmmm

Good deeds don't go unpunished it seems. Shan did some awesome work.

There was once a post of mouse heads to represent the members of your family in the window of the Camper or RV. They were one color outlines of Mickey Big, Miney Big, Mickey/Miney small and very small. Does anyone know how to get them now?

Just wanted to thank you all for your tips on how to get vinyl decals made and, of course, to the ULTRA talented DISigners (Thanks, Shan-Man) I got my husband the Fort Wilderness Musket Mickey made into a decal for his car. He always stayed at FW as a kid and wore his Musket Mickey shirt proudly. As an adult, it was a tragedy for him when they changed to a walking stick. He is over the moon about riding around with MM on his car. Can't wait to show it off when we get there in November.

I tried to send a private message and email but my post count is to low for both.

Does anyone have a source still for musket mickey fort decals?

My first trip back as a self paying adult is at the end of the month and I am really feeling for the old school fort.

My first trip to the fort was in my mom's womb the first year it was open. Slowed down attending through college.

But one reason I was able to convince (harp) my hubby into buying an RV was we could stay at Fort Wilderness!

Of course he has never been, but I have plans to break him in right.

I just wish they still had the pickles at the trading post I remember as a kid. Use to love having a pickle and watching the night time water parade on the shore after a day at river country. yup I am old school.

Here's where I got my decal: Fort Wilderness - Musket Mickey vinyl decal, car decal She was very easy to work with and great in communication. She asked me what color I wanted and even if I wanted to change the text.

Good luck with your trip - I know your husband will fall in love!

BTW: they sell pickles at the market places such as in Animal Kingdom in Africa and in Liberty Square. (I know I got one in the Africa market.) Maybe you can get a couple, and put them in your fridge. Then take one with you to the marina, and enjoy the Electric Water Parade just like you used to!

I hear you about the pickels, but it just isn't the same......

I am starting to sound like my parents; I.e. "when I was growing up walking uphills both ways in the snow, during a 100 degree + heat spell I remember eating the best Fort Wilderness pickels from the huge gallon+ jars. Then they slid downhill by individually wrapping them, then............."

Ah

I wouldn't object to seeing a picture of it now, popcorn::

Dear wife and I usta look forward to pick'n out our own pickle from the barrel, Mmmmm good stuff !

But now they come in these handy dandy individual packed bags, they are okay but still not nearly as good as the barrel pickles.
(not fun to pick out either)

We have upgraded from our 1986 (yup, you heard me correctly!) pop-up camper, that we totally redid on the inside Disney-style, to a travel trailer. We broke it in last week-end at Tropical Palms in Orlando. Nice place, not as good as Disney, but it's close and cheaper. It's right behind Old Town if you ever need a backup place to stay. Anyway, we are coming to Fort Wilderness on 7/31 for a week, yippee!! The decals that originally came on the tt were peeling off and faded. We want to get some new ones to put on. Would LOVE some of the ones I have seen posted here. PLEASE, where did you get them??? I have been googling like crazy and can't seem to find them. Thanks!!
