Tell me about this. We're staying at the WL in August....is this something worth taking the boat to FT. Wilderness for? Is it a long walk to it from the dock?

I didn't go to it, but my sister took my DD 3 to it while my DH & I were at California Grill. This was in September, and she still talks about it. It was fabulous for her. Chip & Dale were there and some woman playing the guitar. I think there is a movie too, but they didn't stay for that.

I know there is a bus that takes you around FW but my sister made it seem like it wasn't a bad walk--my 3 year old walked it. But we're walkers. I'll send her this thread--she'll tell you all the info. Have fun!:)

We tried to fit in in this past trip but were unable to do so. At campfire you can roast marshmellows, participate in the sing along, see Chip and Dale, and then a movie (the schedule is usually posted in the camping section). It's not to far of a walk from the dock, but you can take the Orange bus to the Outpost and walk from there. It looks and sounds like lots of fun.

If you decide to go, brush up on your Hokey-Pokey.

Hi-

I think it is a 3/4-1 mi walk between WL and Ft. Wilderness.

I love the campfire! There is so much to do at Fort Wilderness - that is just one thing of many (I like the wagon rides too). You can get the campfire program at the WL, showing what is playing when. There is also the petting zoo and horse barn at FW.

The walk to FW from the Lodge is about 20 minutes, and you can take a walk over to the campfire program in about 10 from the Settlement, though an internal bus can get you there too. I'd not walk back after the movie, it will be dark.

Walking from the Outpost can also take about 20 minutes, or you can get an internal bus (I think yello or purple, though I'm not positive on purple).

Bus service from the Outpost to the Meadows area is either yellow or orange.

Just to clarify, the Settlement is right next to the Marina, so you'd be looking at about a 10 minute walk if you get the boat over.

Do you think that a nine and ten year old would enjoy the campfire?
They are well past the Hokey Pokey stage.

For the older kids, if they don't care for the sing along part of the show thats ok, just go for the movie.

Getting to the campfire show from WL is very easy...at the WL bus stop get the bus to FW(stop number one), when it gets back to FW this bus changes it sign to Outpost Orange, stay on the bus till the second stop(800 loop, just tell the driver you want the show and they will tell you). When the show is over walk back to the same stop you got off, get on the bus that says Settlement Orange, when it stops at Settlement this bus changes its sign to WL and goes out there.

The campfire and movie is one of our Must Do's on our trips! My DH loves it the most of all of us and would go to it alone if the rest of were doing something else! I've been camping at FW for the last 20 years and the only time I didn't LOVE the campfire was when I was a teenager and was "too cool"! LOL
